Is there any upside/potential in Adam Morrison whatsoever?

The bench is thin BECAUSE HE'S ON IT. Get rid of him and get a useful player and your bench isn't so thin.
You like him? The Bulls are welcome to him.

Yep. I'd prefer us getting Rhino back from overseas. Or pick through the projects available in the D-League. But given Ammo's good SL performance, I can see why we took a flyer on him.

    He's not on it.

he's one of 20 guys currently on the roster, fighting for one of 12-15 regular season roster spots.

Seriously, the fact that he's even under consideration for a roster spot shows just how weak our bench is. The guy has a career high PER of 7.9 - and that was his rookie year, he's gotten worse since then. His career ORtg is 91 and his career DRtg is 111. That's a 20 point per 100 possession deficit. His career WS = -1.4 (negative career Win Share = Lose Share?). It would be hard to find a player who has played over 3000 minutes with worse career stats. How the hell did Charlotte waste No. 3 pick on this guy? He's flat out awful.

How much more does Price bring to the team than Morrison? If Morrison shows he is a good locker room guy for the young players and can come in occassionally and hit the three in the new offensive scheme . . . well again, we did sign Price.

I think that he averaged around 20 ppg in SL is the only reason he's getting this shot.

Looks like he's ok with moving on if this fails, though:

Kind of sounds like a guy who has already lost hope. I hadn't realized he was already 28. Jesus, where does the time go.

I don't think he's on the roster for his past stats.

I can't help but like Morrison. He's quirky, an underdog, looks like a homeless person. I think he'll be comfortable in this city, and maybe that will give him some kind of mental edge to become a good role player off the bench.

Price fills a need - veteran back-up PG. Without him, we have a rookie PG backed-up by a 2nd year combo guard playing the point for us. Plus he is a friend and mentor to Lillard. Who exactly is Morrison going to mentor?

Morrison is quadruply redundant - and fighting it out with Pavlovic for the worst of the 4. After Babbitt and Claver, do we really need Morrison or Pavlovic. Pavlovic is signed to a contract (with Boston paying to cover his salary). So, that leaves Morrison as the odd man out.

Unless it also gives him some kind of physical edge, he will never become a good role player off the bench. He's just too physically limited. He struggles to get his shot off against NBA defenders and can't guard anyone. No thanks.
