WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama retained a slim lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll on Monday, as he appeared to have stemmed the bleeding from his poor first debate. Three weeks before the November 6 U.S. election, Obama leads Romney by 2 percentage points, with 47 percent support from likely voters in the national online poll, to 45 percent support for Romney. The margin was small enough to be a virtual tie, but Obama's slight edge broadened from Sunday, when he went ahead of Romney by 1 point after falling behind in the wake of Romney's decisive victory in their first presidential debate on October 3. "Romney received a bump from that first debate, but the very nature of a bump is it recedes again," Ipsos vice president Julia Clark said. "We're now seeing Obama regaining a little bit of a foothold as we go into the second debate. They go into the debate on equal footing." The two men meet again on Tuesday night at New York's Hofstra University in a debate that Obama needs to win to grab back the campaign momentum. Wall Street has really benefitted from Obama's policies and the Fed knocking interest rates to near zero. If you want to invest in something that has a better return than inflation, the stock market has been the safest way to go. Makes you wonder if it's not another bubble (up 30% since 2007?). I don't think Romney is going to do as well or even win the next debate. But if he does, not even by as much as first time (slaughter), but wins with substance and presidential demeanor, I'm done. I don't need a third debate, Romney gets my vote. I thought the first debate, Romney had a lot to lose as I (and I think many) were ready to tune him out if the debate went bad for him. Ironically now I think it is Obama in that situation in the second debate.

Well they are all actors, so why not give the vote to the best actor. But my vote goes to someone who gives me confidence in their ability to handle their job as president and be a good face for the nation. Right now I see it being Romney because Obama has had his chance and didn't do much, defintely did do what he promised (but who does, huh)
Like repealling Don't Ask don't tell. Or passing a medical system overhaul. Or a huge stimulus plan. What a slacker.
Obama's term would have been great without all the statism, the massive debt increase, the bitter partisan way he passed his legislation when he had democratic control of the house and filibuster proof senate. Again, if the economy is doing better (5M jobs created!) recently, it is because republicans have obstructed his agenda, right? Things really sucked worse when he was spending that stimulus plan. We sure should listen to what everyone tells us is what Romney is instead of listening to Romney himself.
Well, since neither Romney nor Ryan has the stones to answer ANY of the hundreds of media who have asked for facts/details/or even vague clues as to what and how he might actually accomplish whatever it is they "stand for" at this particular moment, I'm seriously curious exactly "what" you believe he will accomplish and SPECIFICALLY how he will go about it.
We're forced to listen to everyone else, because Romney refuses to answer our questions. And every time he moves his lips, he's caught in another lie. Quite possibly the most dishonest man to ever run for office.
I never said he was a slacker. He did make promises he never followed through on and I don't think he has been particualrly effective on the agenda items he did try to follow through on. I won't lose sleep if Obama is president for antoher 4 years, but his shine has worn off for me.
Well Romney will be answering questions tonight for those watching. I don't know what Romeny will accomplish. What has Obama accomplished in the last 4 years?
