Lance also steps down from his Livestrong foundation.

    Nike's statement-

"Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner."

    Wow!

My wife is a cyclist and is just crushed by this news. For her, the turning point is seeing George Hincapie testifying against him. What a sad fall from grace.

Not surprised. I figured he was doping anyway, have been saying that for years.

There are no heros anymore. Everyone who makes it to the top cheats, lies and steals their way to the top. Nice guys finish last and this is just another example of it.

Odd that they never had the stones to post this statement.

"Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Kobe Bryant anally raped a woman and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the anal-raping of women in any manner."

    Nike. Money matters.

I don't have a problem with the fact Armstrong used perfromance enhancing drugs. I also don't have a problem with him not coming out and admitting to it. My contention with Armstrong is the way he portraying all the poeple who have made statements contrary to his statement. These were his friends and teammates. he was a captian and leader. His actions towards them is shameful and Nike is right to sever ties with him.

Edit: It's true that for Nike, money matters. I think that is true for any public corporation . . . at least that is thier duty to shareholders. But this is also a company who's founder just doanted 125 million to cancer research. Obviously I'm bias living in Oreogn and Beaverton, but I love what Nike brings to the region.
