The hay ain't in the barn until the damn hay is in the barn, but from most reports, the Bulls used a #23 overall to get a completely legit lottery pick. Well done, lads.
I don't think he's a legit lottery pick. He's a legit #23 pick Anyhow... http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bulls/post/_/id/9938/nikola-mirotic-showing-nba-his-stuff I'd say a guy who needs more seasoning isn't a lotto pick. But that's me.
Sorry, I don't mean to seem so negative. He's 2 years away from being a Bull. The guys mentioned in TBF's article weren't all that great in the NBA (Sergio Rodriguez, Rudy Fernandez). I'm just a "show me" kind of guy.
Denny, I think your skepticism is justified. He clearly has talent, but he doesn't seem to have a clear position in the NBA, and might have a few serious weaknesses. Never once have my eyes laid sight on Mirotic in a live game so it's really hard for me to say. No joke, he seems like he might be a Kukoc type player in the NBA. Or a Matt Bullard.
Jesus. Just to be clear, we're all talkin' through our arses. Nothing any of us could post would remotely add insight to what Mirotic may or may not be. We don't know anything. Zip. Nada. If we're optimists, we say nice things. If we're pessimists, we provide cautions. If we're in the middle we either don't respond or say something that's fairly innocuous. Fuck it, I like everything I've read about Mirotic since we drafted him. I'm optimistic. Until he actually proves me a fool, he's going to be a nice NBA player.
He doesn't need to prove you a fool, Transplant---we knew that already. He's looking like a nice addition. But that's quite a ways down the line. I'd like believe he'll be our Manny Ginobili...and not our Andre Nocioni.
