Yeah, Barton looked good, I think he's earning a spot as a backup 2. Price/Barton/Claver/Freeland/Leonard

When Barton missed a 20-foot 2-pointer about as badly as you can, I thought, this guy has no range.

For Coby to make the team doesn't require Nolan's departure, just Elliot's. Let him go like we did Hickson and then sign him next summer. Can we?

David Lee was the best Warrior last night, so I checked the boxscore to see how his counterpart Aldridge did. I noticed an amazing coincidence. For each stat, if you add Aldridge, Babbitt, and Claver, the total almost exactly equals the same stat for David Lee. The exception is +/-. Try it yourself. Start with the minutes stat.

Well, they're all a small amount different, but all close. So our 3 guys neutralized Lee. Other Warriors won the game, not him. Notice his big negative +/-.

Wouldn't be a whole lot easier to just state the obvious: their bench outscored our bench 47-29 and that was the difference in the game. Not surprising when you look at the personnel. Their Bench = Carl Landry, Brandon Rush, Jarrett Jack and Richard Jefferson. Our bench = Nolan Smith and four rookies.

The good news is, our starters are better than theirs. The bad news, they're the Warriors. The worse news, they're the Warriors minus Bogut.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say Babbitt looks like an NBA player at the 4.

Hey MM, someone has hacked into your account and is trying to publicly humiliate you by posting positive things about both Luke Babbitt and Nolan Smith.

    Just thought you should know.

Except for one critical stat. 35 minutes for Lee and 27 for Aldridge. Ya think that might account for the difference?

Damn, here I just guzzled half of a fifth of wine and I "half" to spell out out the numbers for this half-pint CupWizier.

    MIN..FGM-A..3PM-A..FTM-A..OREB..DREB..REB..AST..STL..BLK..TO..PF..+/-..PTS..NAME

    27 07-11 0-0 4-4 1 1 2 1 1 2 0 1 +10 18 LaMarcus Aldridge
    08 02-03 1-2 0-0 0 3 3 1 0 0 0 1 +02 05 Luke Babbitt
    05 01-02 0-0 0-0 2 2 4 0 1 0 0 0 +08 02 Victor Claver
    40 10-16 1-2 4-4 3 6 9 2 2 2 0 2 +20 25 Total of the 3 Blazers

    35 10-17 0-1 4-4 2 6 8 4 1 0 2 4 -11 24 David Lee

    05 00--01 1-1 0-0 1 0 1 -2 1 2 -2 -2 31 01 Differences

I used leading zeroes to make columns line up. That columnar alignment got messed up in the last line, which is our 3 guys minus Lee, because I included negative signs.

So, see how close they were except +/-? Our 3 neutralized him. You'd think at first glance that he was the big difference for his team's win.

Lee is productive as hell, but its not worth very much as he gives up just as much on the other end. Can't defend one-on-one, not an impactful help defender. Hes become an ok go-to scorer, and hes long been efficient as hell with his shooting and finishing on the pick and roll, one of the best passers and smartest offensive players among all bigs in the league. If he could play a lick of defense he'd be a hell of a player, but as the Blazers' play-by-play guy said, hes overmatched physically most nights.

Dunno about the "neutralization" argument. Take out Claver and you have Aldridge/Babbit matching exactly with Lee's 35 minutes, then Lee still outproduces them. Did Babbit ever actually play PF? What about Landry who also wrecked shop pretty good as a PF/C?

I have no idea what any of those^ numbers mean, but David Lee FLAT OUT BRINGS IT! Undersized and white and he straight leaves it all out on the court. He can't guard anybody on D, but he is actually a warrior! Does more with less then almost anybody else in the league.

Thought you didn't think whiteys could ball. Last season, he was one of only three players to average over 20ppg and 9 rpg. His last year with the Knicks he averaged 20.2/11.7 and he has a career PER = 19.2. He's also shot over .500 FG% in each of his 7 seasons in the league. Not too shabby for an unathletic white guy.
