If he's almighty, why can't he just snap his fingers and find out who is worthy, as a matter of fact, why can't he just make everyone good and pure with no sin? Why create evil? If it's to make good seem better, why can't he just make good always seem good? He's almighty, he should be able to do that.BTW- The Old testament portrays God as a pretty scary dude. There were all the instances where he smote people and made them suffer, and he killed off humanity a few times, and at one point he sends a bear to visciously kill a group of boys that was teasing an old man about his baldness.</div>i understand your doubt completely. Without delving into theories of creationism or the Big Bang theory, I will say that I do not believe in a creator God. God is a delusion that was made up one day by a person. Then the person spread this story of God around, people added to the story and eventually the Bible was created (Old Testament)<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Bible is God’s letter to humanity collected into 66 books written by 40 divinely inspired writers. These writers come from all walks of life (i.e., kings to fishermen) and spans over a period of 1,500 years or more.</div>It is really stupid to argue such things as 'who created [insert person/animal here] if there is no God?' The thing is, I can't answer that. Science doesn't even attempt answer that. The Big Bang theory is just that; a theory. Science is constantly proving itself wrong in the name of truth. Evolution has been proven with undisputable facts, every piece of life on the planet evolved on what could be seen as a 'slight uphill slope' over billions and billions of years. The fact that a lot of people want evolution taught side by side with creationism is insane. It must be so comforting for very religious people to go to church, where they are surrounded by many other delusioned people. After all, if lots of people have faith in the same God, he must exist, right? Not really. The Bible was written by man.People who take the Bible as literal truth have a problem with a little thing called freedom of thought. They are told they were created by a God since birth, grow up believing the things they are taught (after all, the child years are the ones where people absorb the most information), and then pass the tradition on to the next generation, following strict rules and generally being facist to a degree.Ever wonder why we label children with their parent's religion? If you go to a Jewish community, you see a lot of Jewish children running around playing. They are not given a true freedom of choice when it comes to religion and it sickens me.In closing, I'd like to say that religion is the root of all evil in the world and leads to restriction of free thought, extremists blowing themselves up for the cause of their 'God', and most of the wars around the world.Muslim extremists hate Jews, Christian extremists (or evangelists) will try to force you into their way of thinking, and Israel owns the USA. I also think it's F*cked up how it is considered a good thing to be a 'God fearing man'. I'm not going to live my live afraid of a higher power that could smite me at any time. Sounds like a life of constant anxiety and worrying about going to Hell to me.
The "Kosher tax" is a canard or urban legend spread by American anti-Semitic organizations. It refers to the claim that food producers must pay an exorbitant amount to obtain the right to display a symbol on their products (usually a K or U in a circle) that indicates it is kosher or pareve, and that this cost is passed on to consumers through higher prices which constitute a "kosher tax".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosher_tax
Good find. I saw something about it on a documentary questioning Anti-Sematism and it said something about how there are over 400 groups worldwide that do the Kosher process thing and that it equates to over $165 billion a year in the US. Also, many household cleaning (and other non-food)products have the Kosher symbol on them. Why? Try to ask the corporations, they won't tell you. When people question the Kosher Tax law, they are immediately labeled Anti-Semists.The documentary is called 'Understanding Anti-Semitism - Why Do Some People Dislike Jews (Excerpt)' if you want to try to find a torrent (that's how I got it)
I am a Christian and I'm not going to let any ignorant 13 or 14 year old try to steer me away from it. The facts are out there. There's evidence. The Arc, the fossils, it's there. You've got to be open minded towards it instead of being closed minded and think that you are perfect and you are never wrong. That's basically what you're acting like. I go to church every Sunday for 2 and a half hours and I go to Youth on Friday nights to play basketball in a friendly environment to have fun and try to better my ways of life. Iversonfan268 said it all.
I personally have no faith in a greater force at all, the world wasn't made in 7 days.If God makes people, why doesn't he stop wars and stuff, if he makes them why doesn't he make everyboy good instead of some good some bad...And really science proves a lot of what happens in the bible not to be miracles...My own theory, jesus didn't walk on water, Superman carried him in harry potter's invsibility cloak, thats how the bible sounds to me, liek a childrens book.Im not saying religion is BS, you can believe whatever you want, I don't give a sh*t, just as long as those bible bashing christians don't come to my door, rubbing it in my face, just like they did yesterday...So I politley said " Please...Just fuccckkkk offff !" and so they dispersed, just as I told them.

I wonder how many of you would still believe if you were beaten to near death. Or someone you know(close, obviously) were raped then shot with a gun to the back of their head, like the Baseline Killer is doing down here in PHX. What does god want? a world full of sin, or not?

I just forgot what the link is!Okay, for real. I wouldn't say I have a "side" here, but I honestly don't get the point of this "debate." What are we debating? The title implies that we are debating whether religion is BS or not. So far I have only seen people speak about evidence for or against things, citing opinion, and so on. Not only that, but mostly about one religion. Now, I don't really believe Christianity anymore, but to say it was just a cult that some guy thought up when he was sipping on some tea is simply absurd. To make such a claim shows how little one knows about the topic. In the same vein, it's stupid to think that God would make everyone perfect. That would defeat the point of a heaven, earth, hell seperation. All I'm saying is that the points made so far have been trivial and proved little either way.Spaghetti monster rules! :worthy:  fakeedit: Join the church of the flying spaghetti monster!!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>James 221Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend. 24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.</div>This is who a famous pastor explains the verse (if you care to read it, which you probably won't)<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Justified by works: That is, in the sense in which James is maintaining that a man professing religion is to be justified by his works. He does not affirm that the ground of acceptance with God is that we keep the law, or are perfect; or that our good works make an atonement for our sins, and that it is on their account that we are pardoned; nor does he deny that it is necessary that a man should believe in order to be saved. In this sense he does not deny that men are justified by faith; and thus he does not contradict the doctrine of the apostle Paul. But he does teach that where there are no good works, or where there is not a holy life, there is no true religion; that that faith which is not productive of good works is of no value; that if a man has that faith only, it would be impossible that he could be regarded as justified, or could be saved; and that consequently, in that large sense, a man is justified by his works; that is, they are the evidence that he is a justified man, or is regarded and treated as righteous by his Maker.</div>So, basically, he's saying that good works are the natural accompaniment of salvation. They do not earn salvation, but it is good works that show you are truly saved.

Though I don't believe in a creator God, for all those that say 'why doesn't God just make everybody good?' or stop all the wars or some such other BS, I think you've forgotten that you're supposed to believe that he creates everybody with what is called a free will. And yes, I said you are SUPPOSED to believe that if you are religious. You are spoonfed everything you think you know about where we came from and you treat it as undisputable fact, which it is extremely disputable just as the scientific theories of where everything came from are.Life isn't about where everybody came from or where we're gonna go when we die. Life is about living in the now, and making the most of it. This is my last post in this thread, so I'll close by saying that all religion is BS. If you are religious, have you ever questioned your beliefs? That is probably the most spiritual thing you can possibly do.quickedit: I am agnostic and live by buddhist principles, in case anyone cares.

Why and the hell would you want to live forever, for eternity in heaven? Honestly. What is the point of someone sitting in hell for eternity...I mean come on...Do mass murderers go to hell forever even though they might have been insane or had a mental problem? What about a kid who grew up with violence his whole life and got sucked in...does he rot in hell for having poor influences? Heaven and Hell makes no sense to me at all. It's just so stupid to me....
