If I remember correctly, they chose Jamal McGloire over LeBron his rookie season because they needed a center in the all star game!

LOL. They killed the center position in the NBA. Wow.

This won't really matter much in the immediate future in the west because of Dwight, but in the east, they can possibly just keep on adding forwards to roster for a while.

I'm trying to figure out what the last one means, with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph... any info on those cartoons?

(It looks like they're trying to portray Texas... so maybe this is from two seasons ago when we knocked off the Spurs in the first round? Like a "Beware of Grizzlies" sign?)

    ------------

As for the elimination of the Center position, I agree with the change in terms of the All-Star game. I've always felt that a player's designation as an "All-Star" was supposed to mean a lot, and in the early 2000's, we had guys like Antonio Davis, Jamaal Magloire, and Dale Davis on the squads, just because the team needed a Center.

Next proposed All-Star amendment: Do away with fan voting for starters.

I realize that it's a game "for the fans," but it likewise sullies the honor. Guys like Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady were always in the game, regardless of whether or not they had even contributed that season. That always rubbed me the wrong way.
