    Yes it does suck about Karl, he does belong in the NBA but I also understand why the Blazers let him go.I think most of us can agree that we would rather have Karl over Smith but Smith is the player that is already on the team. Not to mention as nice of player Karl might be I don't think he would have generated the Blazers more wins. They will be a 30-35 win team regardless.

    Everybody suck it up and stop crying about Karl, a very minor-level talent. Besides, he'll be back in a month when Lillard gets his annual season-ending injury.

    No need to. They've applied for a Disabled Player Exception, which they should receive. They have to pay him the same, and he counts the same against the cap, whether they keep him, cut him or get the DSE. The advantage to the DSE is it frees up a roster spot to sign a guy like Coby Karl, or whoever, to a one year contract. It also gives the Blazers time to figure out how well Williams' rehab goes and if he's worth keeping around longer. There's really no downside to keeping him on the roster this season - assuming the league grants the DSE (don't know why they wouldn't).

    TRAIL BLAZERS WAIVE FIVE PLAYERS
    Portland requests waivers on Harper, Holiday, Karl, Lauderdale and Morrison

    PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazers have requested waivers on Demonte Harper, Justin Holiday, Coby Karl, Dallas Lauderdale and Adam Morrison, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey.

    Karl averaged 4.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 11.8 minutes in four preseason games.

    Morrison posted averages of 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 11.4 minutes in five games.

    Harper logged four minutes in three games, Harper played six minutes in two contests and Lauderdale tallied six minutes in three games this preseason.

    With today’s transactions, the Trail Blazers roster stands at 15 players entering the regular season.
