Harden talking with Thunder, turned down $52M

Clearly he cares more about money than he cares about winning. :MARIS61:

Sometimes a guy just doesn't want to play third fiddle on a team when he can be the 1st fiddle, or 2nd fiddle somewhere else.

I don't think that's Harden. I think he's ok being the third option, but he knows his market is >> 52M

Don't get me wrong I would love to see him in Portland but I don't think James Harden is 1st fiddle material. He's not a player that would put the team on his back and take them to the big dance. Thats what separates a star player from a superstar player.

Agree!

How many of those players do you think there are at any given time.

But I think that with Harden and LA, we'd get back to a level where we were with Roy. And I think this team would actually have a better supporting cast because we never have had a PG as good as Lillard.

Lillard/Harden/Batum/LA/Leonard With Matthews and Hickson coming off the bench. Not bad! Good enough to get out of the 1st round.

Ginobili, probably the best sixth man in recent NBA history, has never had that high a contract even in his prime. Ridiculous.

Just don't think he's a max player.

I know there are alot of Nic haters on here, but I'd love to see one of you geeks do a side by side with those 2.

I'll tell you one thing about Nic, He's one of the few SF in the NBA that can guard point guards such as Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook. among others...That is very valuable in the playoffs.

If you want Harden, you'll have to offer the max. He's by far the best player we could land next year via FA, and he's at a position where we could use an upgrade. A superstar will never come here. The Blazers either have to wait it out and hope to build through the draft, or over-pay for a 2nd tier guy like Hibbert/Harden

I still don't think OKC will let him go for nothing. He very will could be traded at deadline.

He'll get close to a max this summer from someone.

Not to wish anything bad on him, but what do you think the odds are of him getting really injured this year while waiting for that max deal? With his body and ability to go inside I'm guessing relatively high. If he waits I would be he will end up regretting it.

I think Harden is the 2nd best player on the Thunder. I think he's a borderline superstar and he's only 23 years old?

He's that good.

I think if he gets the chance he's going to bolt to a bigger market.

Dallas will have the max to offer next summer, right?

Harden is good, but:
1) he was bad when it counted
2) an awful lot of his game is drawing fouls. That could get old. Otherwise Corey Maggette would be a huge star.
3) He will end up on either
a)OKC
b) Phoenix
c) Dallas
d) Nowhere else (unless the Lakers clear cap space)

He's a very good player, but nowhere near a max player. He has a limited skills set.

Even more than that is the way he draws fouls, picking up the dribble with both hands and coming up underneath the defender's hand to create contact. I don't know that he can get away with that much longer as a focus of the offense. The scouts are bound to figure out a way to stop it.

A Lin and Harden backcourt?

Wow, they somehow found a way to get the most overrated point guard and shooting guard in the league on the same team!
