Various sources are reporting that a bonus and incentives laden contract has been signed by DeMar DeRozan, extending his deal with the Raptors for an additional four years and totaling about $42-million. The guaranteed figure is somewhere in the $36-38-million range. Seems to be the kind of contract you offer a player once he's improved, not the kind you offer hoping he'll live up to it. Once again BC bids against himself and loses.

Agree. We should have just let the season play out. If he played well we still had the opportunity to match. We have too much money tied up with him and Fields, neither of whom are good players nor do they work well together.

If DeMar develops into a reliable 18-20ppg scorer and contributes in other ways as well I don't think this is the kind of contract that will hamstring us.

The problem I see is paying DeRozan, Fields, and Kleiza $20-million/year for a middling wing rotation, supposing Ross isn't getting big minutes.

I think Demar can get there, he was average 16 ppg last year and it's only one game but he was aggressive against the Pacers but he wasn't getting calls. Maybe I am being too positive, though. I'll agree that Landry Fields was a mistake, even if its only one game in.

the fields contract and to a lesser extent kleiza are going to make every dollar spent going forward critical, meaning there is no room for error. is demar worthy of this contract? i dunno but it makes him virtually untradeable over the next three years.
