Who would you rather have on your team for the future? Shaun Livingston or JR Smith? One is a pass first large point guard, and the other is a highflying scorer capable of 20 points a night. Pretty tough desition for me, But I think I will go with Livingston. Because he is a larger point guard he can score on defenders easily, plus hea a good passer. But Smith would be good also.
If Livi developes a good offensive game then I take him because he is a mis match for every other Point Guard in the league. Right now I think JR is the better player. Both will become studs in the league though.
At this point I don't think it is that close. I'd take Livingston. While he is injury prone he has played well and is still learning. The thing is he has a good head on his shoulders and is willing to work on his weaknesses.Smith has a very wobbly head on his shoulders and up to this point hasn't worked hard enough to improve. Livingston is a star in the making. Smith is a wanna-be star in the making. He has the talent, but it will all come down to his mental ability to translate his talent into something of worth.

is this a joke?livingston in a fraction of a heartbeat. Smith is lazy and doesn't care about winning at all. I once saw him say that he would rather have only 4 points IN A LOSS with two highlight reall dunks than 30 points in a win with no highlights. that took him down a few notches in my book. That's just disgraceful.Livingston has a shot at not only being an all-star, but a superstar. He has alot fo tools, some of the best plassing in a young player in this era, very quick, and a 6-7, long frame. Against the nugs in game 5 or 6 (don't remember, the Clips were +33 with Livingston in and -18 with Livingston on the bench. That just shows how valuable he really is.

What has he done to make himself better than Livingston? When Shaun played in the playoffs this past season, he showed glimpses of greatness. Back to Topic: I would rather have Shaun Livingston easily. He is a 6 7 point guard. He is going to have an advantage on the guy guarding him every single time. He is an amazing passer and his mid range jumpshot is getting better. Everybody seems to think that he needs to bulk up but does it really matter? Reggie Miller was weak but he was one of the best perimeter players AND clutch players of all time. Livingson and JR have the same upside potential IMO but JR wont live up to if he keeps up the same attitude that he has right now. Once Cassel is gone in LA, Livingston is going to get the minutes he deserves and he will show the world what he can do.

George Karl won't be satisfied with half-ass effort, and I think that he is a better scorer than Livingston. As far as I am concerned with George Karl pushing him, and Livi coming off the bench, J.R. is going to be the better player. I never said he was far and away better, but considering the position he was just put in I think he will shine this year in Denver.
You said that right now JR Smith is the better player....You never said that he will be the better player under George Karl. And even when he plays for George Karl, the ONLY reason that he might look a tad bit better is because he will be starting because Denver has 0 other shooting guards to put in there. And Shaun Livingston will be stuck backing up Sam Cassell.

Although is work ethic might not be there, I take him against Livi both playing their hardest right now, but I don't think it is that far away, and I think that Livi has the brighter future.
JR has a better scoring ability, but he needs to get his head on straight if he ever wants to contribute to an NBA team anytime soon..Livingston is raw offensively, he's got great handles, a good feel for the game, and even at age 20 he's one of the best passers in the league - he would be among the top in assists if he got the playing time. If Livingston can work on an offensive game, and controlling the ball in tough situations - he will be a superstar PG. He has the tools to be a GREAT PG, He's got the height that no PG in the NBA has. He is 6'7, 185 pounds - he needs to add bulk to his frame. But right now I take Livingston because he is better at everything except for shooting..Livingston has sky high potential, and potential to be one of the best in the entire league.
I haven't seen Livingston play but i always hear him getting praise from everyone. I hear it all the time that Livingston is going to be a great player one day. so then what choice do you have? you have to pick Livingston.

I don't, except for scoring. And what are you getting at? That Byron Scott doesn't push his players? He doesn't accept half-ass work either, and that's why he benched Smith half the year. Do you not realize that? Livingston by a MILE. No, 2 miles. His all around game, size, and athleticism will get him somewhere. He works hard and he is a good kid. Smith doesn't work very hard, is somewhat of a punk, and I think he's only in this league to get money and score. He doesn't care about anything else. Like Ender said, Livingston has a good head on his shoulders, JR has a wobbly head on his shoulders. And even with that aside, Livingston has more talent in his body than Smith. Livingston has a chance to be a superstar who can do anything and virtually fill up a stat sheet, while Smith does nothing besides score. Livingston now > Smith now Livingston in the future >>>>> Smith in the future
JR Smith is a dubmass who couldnt even get off the bench for the Hornets.Livingston >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SMith
Livingston. He is a great passer at pg, and he has a height advantage too. He didnt get injured that much last year, but he is still sort of injury prone. And I think alot of that has to do with his skinny frame. He definately needs to eat more, and bulk up.But he will start for the Clips once Sam Cassell retires, which will probably be after 2 seasons, and he should get significant time after next season as well.Smith has talent, but I dont expect him to be much because of his poor worth ethic, attitude, and desire.
Livingston by far, he has much more height at his position, a great passer and also has a terrific work ethic. Personally,I don't like JR Smith because of his terrible work ethic and his problems in the locker room.Linvingston > SmithNow a better comparrison would be Jameer Nelson or Delonte West.
