Apparently WSOF approached Houston Alexander for this one but he had the good sense to say no.

Looks like we're going past the Gregor Gracie fight and doing the Miguel Torres one now.

Torres loses again. Dude looked like he was sparring out there. Dunno where his heart has gone.

Lots of hooting back and forth in the crowd. Very irritating. Vegas crowds are lousy.

    Holy shit!

Anthony Johnson got poked in the eye and tried to get the ref's attention. Herb Dean wasn't going to stop the fight and Linderman rushed in to take advantage, and Johnson landed a huge right hand knocking him out instantly. Something like Smith/Sell.

Andre "Universal Soldier" Arovski up next.

Devin Cole isn't a great fighter but he is a sturdy dude. Cormier couldn't do him in. A finish by Arlovski would send a message. It would practically be his fourth win in a row if you include the drubbing of Tim Sylvia that was called a no-contest for bullshit reasons.

Props to WSOF. Solid show. Few technical issues, mostly fair match-ups with the exception of Spong/Bartlett (probably hard to get anyone to fight him), shitty papered crowd (out of their control), good broadcast. Excellent start for the promotion.

Should also note that Todd Harris & Bas Rutten did a bang-up job on the mic.

The WSOF business model is a bit difficult to understand. They paid NBC Sports to be on television, not the other way around. They put up $350,000 in fighter salaries plus expenses to get Planet Hollywood and staff to run the show and advertising and marketing. Their revenue came from ticket sales (supposedly many of which were comped to fill-out the arena) and advertising from sponsors JACO and that nutrition company with Overeem and Michael Johnson as the spokesmen. Can't see how WSOF didn't take a big hit to make their first show happen. For their sake I hope NBC Sports picks them up on their tab for future shows, so here's to hoping they pulled 1,000,000+ viewers or at least got good numbers in the male 18-49 demo.

Rumour has it that of the assumed 4,500 fans in attendance, only 1/3 paid to get in, the rest getting free or near-free admission to fill out the crowd. Sucks to be the people who paid.
