I'm renting the movie Marley this evening. Anyone seen it? It looks great!!
I HATED that movie! *sniff* My dog, and best buddy, Sammy, ran off (to die, I suppose) in an Atlantan thunderstorm. One of the saddest times of my life.
Bob Marley was a cultural phenomenon, despite (or, dare I say, "in light of") his recreational/spiritual choices.
Wow, great movie! For some reason, when I think of Bob Marley, in the same vein, I also think Hendrix, Joplin, Vaughan, Cobain, and to a lesser extent, Winehouse.
....oh, and had meant to add Gaye to that list, as well. Basically, musicians, singers, and/or songwriters who had (fill in the blank here) impact.....and died way too early.
Otis Redding! Guy recorded Sitting on the Dock of the Bay 3 days before he died. 3 fucking days. One of my favorite records I own is Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix at the Monterey Pop festival. Otis died something like 6 months later and Jimi a couple years later.
