having Mathews come off the bench for scoring and energy? Obviously, Mathews would finish the game with the rest of the starting five though.

No...... God no. We just need to keep playing Barton and leave Pavlovic at the end of the fucking bench. I'd rather play Babbitt over Pav and that says something.

Pavlovic played well for Stotts when he was in Milwaukee.

Ya know just because Pavlovic may start does not mean the guy has got to play 30-35 minutes a game and it also does not mean that Barton can't get 10-15 minutes of time either. At least it's something to consider till we get a better bench.

No, I don't think he as good a defender as advertised and I'd rather see Barton get all his minutes, whether he is ready or not.

I think Barton will grow in leaps and bounds if he gets the minutes. Watching his growth during Summer League was one of the highlights for me. The difference between his first game and his last game was astonishing. I think he has a ton of talent, he's just very raw.

No. Pavlovic is not a starting SG. We'd need someone who could actually push Wes to the bench. But he's been stellar so far...esp defensively.

I am a big fan of Matthews as a 6th man, but not on this current team. Pavlovic sucks

Fuck no, Pavlovic shouldn't start ... I'm not even sure he should be on an NBA roster.

As for Matthews, with his limited ball-handling and role-player mentality wouldn't exactly be an ideal sixth-man any way.

I like Matthews starting because he's on the Lillard unit. He and batum will be on the receiving end of some wide open jays. Also we have a pretty sick defensive unit on the floor that every position can score.

NO! Matthews should absolutely start now and in the future until such a time as we spend all of our cap space, and maybe even after that.

Honestly, Matthews should probably be the captain of the team.

On this current team the whole bench sucks so what's your point? Who cares if it's Pavlovic or someone else off the bench.

Uh, then why do you want some of that suck on the starting five? There are always starters in the game unless it's a blowout, so it's pointless to think we need one of our starters coming off the bench.

I don't agree that the entire bench sucks. I think we have some very talented guys on the bench.... they're just rookies. The reason why we think the bench sucks is because Stotts is playing our veterans, who are all terrible. Ronnie Price, Pavlovic, and even Jeffries are all scrubs that are on their last legs in the NBA.

Barton, Leonard, Freeland, and maybe even Claver are all talented guys. They're just young. They need time on the floor to get better. The problem is that they are rookies, so they will make rookie mistakes. I think Stotts is trying to get them time, but he's trying to work them in slowly.

Both Harden and Martin are better then Thabo Sefolosha as well. So if it it didn't matter then why does OKC start bench players? And I'm not comparing OKC to the Blazers.

No, I like having our best 5 guys as our starters. There's something that just sticks in my craw about the idea that you've got a better player in on the bench. It drove me nuts when we did it with Uncle Cliffy. It made me want to throw up when we did it with Andre Miller. It kept me up at night thinking we would do it this season bringing JJ Hickson off the bench to start a "true" center like Freeland or Leonard. ugh, don't do it with Mathews.

But you ARE comparing OKC to Portland.... It's apples and Oranges. The Thunder can start Thabo because they have Kevin Durant and Westbrook. They don't need scoring in their starting unit. Hell, there aren't enough shots to go around with Westbrook on the floor, so they can afford to have some scorers come off the bench. The Blazers have some streaky shooters. Even Aldridge is streaky, so they can't afford to bench a scorer. Some nights Matthews goes off, some nights Batum does it, and most nights Aldridge will put up big numbers, but I don't think any of them are a Durant or a Westbrook. Aldridge is the closest thing.
