I've only seen 3 political ads in this campaign. I get TV via Netflix and torrent, so I have to actively go out and seek ads. But this is the kind of tv ad I wish both campaigns ran more of. You may think Powell is only caring about race. You may disagree with what he said. But it's nice to have people I recognize as independent thinkers exposing their opinions through advertising. I respect this kind of advertising from both sides--I was critical of Billy Graham for using the Wall Street Journal, and I disagree with how he defines marriage, but I respect that a religious leader is putting his opinion out there in a positive way. Both guys are putting their moral weight behind their candidate in a forthright way with an emphasis on a few key facts that they find decisive. These ads are accountable, positive and ring with sincerity. It's the best kind of political campaigning.
