I guess he's a singer. I've been offered two free tickets (excellent seats) to his Rose Garden concert (or where ever it is). I think I've heard the name but is he any good?
Go to youtube and listen to some of his songs. I'm not a huge fan, but he is a pretty talented song writer.
I've listened to some of his stuff on PBS. He's up there in age (late-70's, I believe), but can still sing pretty well. You'll have fun. http://www.youtube.com/artist/leonard-cohen
Cohen is an acquired taste. A lot of people find him dull.
Leonard Cohen is a well known singer and songwriter. Mostly folk songs but he varies. He is best known for Suzanne which has been covered by many artists. I'd sure go. I don't think he sings Fiddler on the Roof any more than Paul Simon does. Any more than Natalie Portman acts in it. Believe it or not, Dog, not every Jew is in Fiddler on the Roof.
Another signature song by Cohen is "Hallelujah". Like many singer-songwriters, a lot of the best versions of his songs are by somebody else.
give me back my broken night my mirrored room, my secret life it's lonely here there's no one left to torture give me absolute control over every living soul and lie beside me, baby that's an order give me crack and anal sex take the only tree that's left and stuff it up the hole in your culture give me back the berlin wall give me stalin and st paul i've seen the future, brother... it is murder
He sings (and I think he wrote) First We Take Manhattan, Then We Take Berlin. Good tune. Whether you're on the Left or Right, you can adopt it as your own. He's about 98 years old and barely stands there, so Blazer Prophet, you'll like him, but I'll stick with the Young Spruces or whatever they're called. The Virgin Olive Oils. I don't keep track of their names, but I just love them.
