So does Damien Lillard. He can dribble and shoot a lot better than I do. I'm not jealous of him, either.

its a combination of a lot of factors

3.5% tax on property income, thats not on profit but on income

taxes of every kind going up

    etc etc etc

guys that were sqeeking by on thin margins in this weak econemy have an easy call, guys that were sitting their monies, well they have no reason to jump in until things hit bottom

So, quitting is vindictive? What responsibility do I have to provide others jobs?

We provided healthcare, but it was less comprehensive than we're now being required.

I don't care if you're into real estate investments or if you sell hot dogs. The fact that any business can make such a dramatic change based on who becomes President speaks for itself.

On the plus side, I'm sure your competitors will be delighted :)

Quitting is not, it's how you've come to that decision. There's nothing wrong with saying the return for your time is no longer worth it. But to say that elections have consequences, and to have an "Obama" plan in place is indicative of this being your way to stick it to the man. What you're doing is essentially no different than the employers who told their employees to vote for a particular candidate or be fired.

It's not a dramatic change. It's a cycle. We raise a fund, invest it, enhance the properties, sell them and close out the fund. We simply decided that the increased taxes, the massive new regulations and the compliance requirements necessary to continue to work simply didn't make sense for us.

It speaks volumes that government can have such influence that it would cause us to come to this point. My concern is that our story isn't a unique one. If it isn't, good luck to the unemployed.

Because our decision would have been different if Romney would have won. Elections do have consequences. And as I said in the previous post, what does it say to you about how anti-business the Obama Administration is that we would even have such a conversation?

We didn't tell anyone how to vote. We are faced with expenses we choose not to incur. It's that simple.

It's sad, isn't it? People on this board believe they're owed a living and others should supply it for them.

Some will try, and best of luck to them. I hope many succeed. As for me, I've worked my ass off since I was 12. I'm in my early 40s. Enough.

In a way--half-joking, half sincere--I'm a little surprised that the CEOs of America didn't rise up as one and lay everyone off at once for letting Obama win. It seems to me that they could very easily hold everyone hostage by simply saying to America "You're fired. If you want your jobs back, demand the repeal of everything we don't like." It's like they don't have the balls to try it, even if they want to secretly. Do you think CEOs do, in their hert of hearts, just wish the workers would quit whinging about health care and be minimum wage already?

I've been unemployed twice in my life for an extended period of time, and yet I never applied for unemployment. I just hated the idea of being part of the "entitlement" crowd. Now, however . . . well, I'm very tempted to find every angle I can to apply for government support and just ride this gravy train as far as it will take me. I'm tired of paying taxes so other people can sit on their butts. I'm tired of fighting for a style of government that most Americans don't seem to want. If this is the new America, I may as well join it. I think it's absurd and unrealistic and will never last, but you can't swim upstream forever.
