That should deflate some of the urine filled waterballoons lofted at Jamal. He owned up to taking some of the blame, and accepted that it was a bad year. I say we just move on and let bygones be bygones. The guys who ruined this team, and set this team back a few years (or more), were McMillan and Oden. McMillan because he was such a stunting coach who stifled creativity and certain players and Oden because he's a brittle broken down shell of a player who didn't take his career seriously and drank himself to oblivion. All Jamal did was shoot too much and be a part of a poorly constructed team.
If he'd played for us like he did last night, he'd still be here. He just went through the motions here. Considering the money these guys get, the very least expected is to play hard. For us, all he did was shoot us out of games and collect his money.
He did play like that for the Blazers in the first part of the season, then the losing streak, bitching, and whining followed.

For a few years, we have agreed that McMillan is not talented enough to mold his system around the players he is given. Instead, the GM must continuously search for years for players who will perfectly fit McMillan's system, and perfectly complement the deficiencies of Roy and Aldridge. Why is it so hard to apply this fact to explain why good players did not excel under McMillan? Zach, Rudy, Sergio, the whole roster last year, the list is endless of players who went downhill under McMillan.

This! I never had a problem with Crawford. Nate tried to make him a starting pt guard because Felton couldn't dribble unless it was off his foot. Anybody who thinks Crawford can't shoot is just wearing blind folds. I never got the hate for him seeing as that roster was a disaster.
I agree. Buchanan totally misestimated Felton's talent, forcing Batum to move to SG and Crawford to PG, displaying McMillan's coaching deficiencies (can't coach vets), getting him fired (he needed to be, anyway). But it all resulted in the great elite team we have now, so it's okay. Wait, I typed that too fast.
My nephew was murdered when Crawford was here in Portland, I made a tweet about it during a night when Crawford was doing a Twitter trivia game. He added me on Twitter and we talked throug DM's for a few days. He is one of the most humble, nicest guys I have ever spoke with, real genuine dude.
Many media guys think Crawford is one of the brightest basketball minds they've interviewed. Folks diss him but he'd thrive under Stotts system.
He got lumped in with the well-earned Felton hate. I have no problem the Crawford, especially as a bench scorer.
I liked Crawford before we got him, and I still like him. It wasn't his fault nate didn't know how to use him. It's funny because Crawford is exactly the guy our bench was missing the last couple of years.
I could never understand the hate Crawford or mo will got while here. Both are top notch six man types. The grass is always greener with someone else it seems.
He was placed in an untenable situation, being asked to step into Brandon Roy's sizeable shoes at the last minute, in addition to having to carry a fucking sandbag around with him. I thought he did remarkably well, considering. I don't blame him for quitting, but I do wish he hadn't.
