Nate's team generally win. Portland won 54 with him coaching a healthy team. The Lakers are (on paper) a better team than that 54-win Blazers team.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS League sources now say assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will coach the Lakers tonight against Golden State.

This is like Christmas morning. We've got more issues than just the coach, but the biggest issue was the coach. I don't want Brian Shaw, I don't think he commands respect like Phil or Jerry Sloan. D'Antoni being considered...don't like that, either. I want Phil back tbh, but I think realistically it could be Sloan, McMillan, or D'Antoni.

If McMillan, it's good news for Przybilla. He'll step on Superman's cape. But seriously, to make Nash a star you need D'Antoni's speed, not Nate's slowness. I'd hire Mike.

I think Nate would be a great hire for the Lakers. As much as we hated him here, a lot of that had to do with a few things. In game adjustments but with a veteran team they can do that themselves. Developing Talent, Nate is not a coach who develops talent. How many times did we see young guy pulled for a little mistake time and time again killing their confidence and how many times did he take out a "hot" player because his rotations told him to do so.
As for Nate not letting Nash play... I think Nate would have enough respect to let Nash play however he wanted.

How did Nate not develop Roy and LMA? I'd say both turned out pretty awesome. I don't think you can blame Nate for Roy's knees.

Like he did with Andre Miller? He was terrible with the one veteran team he ever had. That's why he was fired.

McMillan is not the same as Brown. The only thing on offense they have in common is that they like to play a slow style. Nate loves his traditional NBA ISO's, low post plays, and pick-and-pops. That is not the Princeton Offense at all.

He'd be a great fit for the Lakers. Nash could thrive in a slower-paced game, provided he had the ball a lot to set up teammates. The problem with what they were doing is that they were running their offense through their fourth best player (Gasol) with something none of these vets had ever played before. Playing Nateball won't be a problem.
