    Stoudamire Addresses Media

I'm tired of there not being any conversation on the Blazers. From now on I'm posting every article I find.

    October 1, 2003

Blazers Guard Damon Stoudamire and Blazers President Steve Patterson met with media today to field questions regarding Stoudamire's playing status with the team as training camp opens.

Patterson informed the press that Stoudamire has been reinstated and will attend training camp when the veterans return. Stoudamire's fine has also been revoked due to his completion of the voluntary rehabilitation program completed this summer.

"We are very pleased with the progress Damon has made this summer. He has taken personal steps to put himself in a position to be as successful as he can be. The Blazers are ready to put his mistakes in the past and are ready to help him focus on the future," said Patterson.

"Sitting here is not easy, it's not easy talking about this situation. I'm embarrassed about the issue, about embarrassing my family and the Blazers family and about embarrassing everyone who has supported me," said Stoudamire.

"I've apologized before and I'm here today to apologize again and let everyone know that I want to concentrate on being the best person I can possibly be. This summer I've taken steps to address the issues I've had in the past and am ready to move forward. I feel better about myself than I did six months ago and am ready to step up and be a man," Stoudamire said.

Stoudamire is donating money from the initial fine to the Albina Head Start program and it's newest development location. Stoudamire has requested that the facility be in honor of his deceased grandmother.

Because of Stoudamire's dedication to recovery and his commitment to a positive future, and the desire to assist the local community when in need, the Blazers have agreed to match a $100,000 donation to the new Head Start facility fund.

I have always liked Damon Stoudamire. I think he that he can be an outstanding player, when other things aren't keeping him from it. Do you really think that he has learned from his mistakes? Looking back on an article that was released after his first offense, he said then, pretty much the same thing he's saying now. Almost like it was sripted.(?sp)

He is and will always be one of my favorite players. Lets hope he can get his act together.

My opinions on Stoudamire: when he decides to play, he's among the league's elite. He's one of the Blazer's few real clutch players, and he's got some sweet moves. However, he is a little on the short side and is way overpaid for his abilities. I don't know what to make of the whole marijuana thing, other than I don't really think smoking weed has much to do with his on court performance. How stupid is it to take a bag of pot wrapped in tin foil to the airport though?

Wow, blast from the past! and this guy was talking to himself. Those were the days, NOT.

Funny though, his description of 'Stodamire' sounds like Lillard, except for the whole Mary Jane 'thing' of course.

    It's interesting digging up archives.

I remember digging up an old archived post from when the Grizz drafted Love and then traded him (and Mike Miller) for O.J. Mayo. I said how it was one of the worst trades ever, and I got demolished by the posters on the forum. Nobody else had confidence in Love, and everyone though Mayo was a superstar.

I also remember a Raptors fanbase that was vehemently opposed to my suggestion that they should have taken Danny Granger over Joey Graham. I thought Granger was one of the best players in the draft and that Graham was trash. Man,... we posted endlessly through several threads and PM's about who would be better. It got heated.

I just wish there was a way to rub that shit into the old posters faces' nowadays. (Where's shape?!)

Well, the Trail Blazers forum was pretty quiet, but the forum as a whole was pretty alive. There was a lot of diversity of interests.

I left the board for about five years, came back, and I still can't figure out why everyone left. No body has a concrete explanation.

(With that said, let me gloat to the posters who gave me so much shit over Kevin Love and Danny Granger .. DON'T YA'LL FEEL STUPID NOW?

:sigh: It doesn't feel the same without the same dumbasses here to put in their place.)

So you say that when HCP was a rookie in diapers, you were here telling him he couldn't start threads? Then you went into suspended animation like Rip van Winkle, then like an astronaut who travels near the speed of light, you returned having hardly aged while all your friends had died of old age. And I thought you were a rookie. What a tale you have.

That link just shows me that The HCP is almost 7X more popular then you! You only have 1,800 visits to your profile while The HCP has almost 8,000 FAMS! #stepyogameupson

HCP... I enjoy your enthusiasm, and your love and knowledge of the game... it's one of the reasons that I continue to post here.

Since an archived post happened to be revived though, I'm saying that this board has had some history.

I personally originated posting at NBADraft.Net back when it originally started, got persuaded to mod at BBN, got persuaded to mod at JBB, and then we were sold to s2, where I became an Admin. I personally told Mel that I wasn't cashing the check. I could have used the money, but I didn't feel like I earned it, because posting, recruiting posters, and building a successful board was a release at the time, not a job.

One of the things that I'm trying to figure out though is how this has become a 99% Blazers' forum. There used to be a diversity of interests. For example, at any given time, there might have only been one Knicks fans, two Raptors fans, one Sonics fans, three Warriors fans, a Lakers fan, and me, as the lone Grizz fan,... but at least we had a discussion of the NBA. We had about 10-20 of the NBA teams represented by consistent posters that could provide interesting arguments.

Nowadays, it's a discussion of the NBA through Rose-Garden colored glasses. The attitude is... "You don't get down with the TB? Get off the forum!"

I'd like to see that change. That's all I'm saying...

I'm just messin' with you man. I just love coming on here to talk hoops and have some fun. The funny thing is when people think I'm serious in the way I post. In the third person and as if I'm big time. Cracks me up how mad some of them get. But just to remind everyody, I'm not a computer geek like the rest of these guys.......

Were all sarcastic jackasses here. I haven't really seen anyone blasted for liking a team that isn't The Blazers but since it is mostly a Blazers crowd it is mainly talking about them and there are those of us who seem to be constantly over optimistic about them. Used to have a few Lakers/Boston fans dunno what happened to them.

This is impressive, and you of course should be calling HCP a rookie every time he posts, but beware of his "I'm just messing with you" because last year he shot a guy on this board and we had to cover up for him.
