Wow Lillard is no where in sight. Or Leonard for that matter. Could end up being two great picks for us.,

I think you picked a lot more than just Waiters this past draft

At one point you wanted Marshall, Beal, Waiters, MKG..... who didn't you want actually?

Aren't we a little premature to call Waiters a bust?

I'm definitely not a fan of the kid; hell, if you told me he'd go top 10 a week before the draft, I'd laugh at the notion.

How many NBA games has he played though? He was fat and out of shape in the summer league,... but you don't think the Cavaliers are going to do something about that in training camp and over the course of the season?

I've thought Waiters was over-drafted since day one, and I've also thought that Damian Lillard would be a good pro, but reading this forum will lead a casual fan to believe that Damian Lillard already won Rookie of the Year and Dion Waiters got cut before training camp.

Let's at least let them play a real game before jumping all over them.

Likewise, let's let Nerlens Noel and Shabazz Muhammed play some NCAA ball before anointing either of them the next '(insert comparison),' because I'm pretty sure none of us have seen enough of them to say anything of substance about their games'.

So we still owe the Bobcats a 1st rounder for Gerald Wallace:
Bobcats receive the Blazers' 2013 first-round pick (top 12 protected in the 2013, 2014, and 2015, and unprotected in 2016) (Gerald Wallace trade 02-24-2011). So we should be fairly safe for awhile....

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but why did you decide to quote my post? I never said anything about Waiters being a bust or anointing Lillard as ROY. My post was making fun of Fez and his tendency to flip flop on draft prospects.

With that said, I think Waiters will be a bust. The guy is a chucker. He's an undersized shooting guard. Not much to like about him imo.

Early projections on nbadraft.net are a bit funky. I remember they had Sergio ranked ahead of BRoy in 06 for a while.

Found it: This was from 10/31/05, so around 8 months before the actual draft. Much like the projections we see on these sites now.

    http://web.archive.org/web/20051107103054/http://nbadraft.net/index.asp

Some funny ones: 3. Daniel Gibson, 5. Sergio, 9.LA, 24. Rudy, 40. BRoy.

I apologize. I understood your point, I just quoted the wrong post.

The one that jumps off the page to me is Nemanja Aleksandrov. Remember the Euro craze back then? He was supposed to be the next great export, and now he can't even make a premier European team. I've always wondered why he never materialized. Maybe he was just over-hyped by ill-informed and under-staffed fledgling draft websites (*cough* NBADraft.Net *cough*).

Now that we have day one of college basketball behind us, we can start talking about prospects like Nerlens Noel.

I thought he looked fairly disappointing, not only offensively, but on the glass, going against Len. I know it's a long season, but I just didn't see where they hype was. I see him having the potential to be a great player, but from this sample of one game, he looks like he needs a lot more work than Anthony Davis did.

Another player of note from the game - Alex Len. All I've heard all off-season was how greatly he improved his game, and he really showed it tonight - 23 pts, 12 rbs, and 4 blks for the 7'1" Ukrainian.

Hell, Alex Len looked like the best pro prospect in the game. He wasn't just playing like a stiff. He had a way better nose for the ball than I was expecting.

Batum was, at one point, ranked #3 in his draft by DraftExpress.

I still would love to have MKG on my team.

Does anyone think that with Shabazz being ineligible he'll have the Brandon Jennings-like drop to #10 or so? Jennings was supposed to be Iverson-like and go really high before he went to Italy.

Noel has a very narrow frame. I really don't think he'll be able to play the 5 in the NBA. Nice prospect but nowhere near Davis IMO.

    I'm firmly on these bandwagons:

    -Bazz Muhammad
    -Cody Zeller

Noel looked good tonight in the loss. I can see why he's gotten top 5 hype, but #1 might be a stretch a this point. He really needs to put a lot of work into his offensive game. He has great defensive instincts though, the type that you can't teach.

Alex Poythress, on the other hand, is a certified BEAST offensively, and the scariest part is that he'll dominate even though his post game is still questionable. He needs just as much work as Noel does in terms of refining his post game, but he far overshadowed Noel tonight in terms of his physicality, athleticism, and offensive awareness.

If the draft were held tomorrow, I'd have a hard time picking between Poythress and Noel. The only things that gives Noel the edge are his size and defensive instincts, as well as Poythess' tweener height and skillset. If you threw Poythress an extra two inches though, he'd be unstoppable.

Agreed on Poythress. I really like the kid, not just because of the way he plays, but because of who he is off the court as well. IMO, he's a top 5 pick.
