OK, guys (and gals), I am not a computer person. My wife's laptop hard drive crashed and as a writer she uses her computer 7-8 hours a day. So we're getting another as good ol' Microsoft refuses to recognize the new hard drive with a restored disc for the OS. She strongly prefers Toshiba and has two options for a new Toshiba. One has an AMD processor and the other an Intel Pentium. She has been told the Intel is better for prolonged use, but that computer is $60 more. Is this true? Is an AMD less rugged than an Intel? Thanks
Get the Intel processor. And yes, Toshiba makes a good laptop. Also pay extra if you have to and make sure it has 6-8 gigs of ram.
Also there are some good deals out there with laptops with Windows 7. I'd avoid Windows 8 for awhile.
Ie; Lenovo. My work gave me one and its slick. Sent my mom to get one at Frys, keep your eye on the ads. Intel Core i5 for under $500.
Not necessarily. Some AMDs are faster than some i7s. A few i5s are faster than a few i7s. A few i3s are faster than a few i5s. Here's what I always use. Type the processor into the rectangle, or sort by column and look down the list. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
