"While choosing his words Monday to discuss the possibility of Minnesota targeting Calvin Johnson's head, Lions coach Jim Schwartz was very careful. That's a lot more than you could say about Harrison Smith. The Vikings safety appeared to line up the Lions' star receiver and intentionally deliver one of two blows Johnson took to his head Sunday. Minnesota linebacker Jasper Brinkley also hit Johnson in the head and linebacker Chad Greenway was fined $21,000 after he hit Johnson in the head in September. Because the NFL reviews all games, Schwartz said the team felt no need to bring the hits on Johnson to the league's attention. When he was asked if he thought the hits were intentional, Schwartz did not specifically exonerate Smith or Brinkley. "I don't think anybody in this league is trying to hurt somebody," he said. "He's a 6-foot-5 receiver and when Matt (Stafford) throws it up high to him, people have to go up high to be able to get the ball. He got hit in the head twice."
