Mitt Romney – remember him? – is working through his stages of grief at losing the election campaign, and has resurfaced in a call to his lucky donors. During the call, he blamed his defeat on Barack Obama’s “gifts” of free stuff like healthcare and education to women and people of colour. The Los Angeles Times’s Maeve Reston appears to have heard the conference call, and reports: Mitt Romney told his top donors Wednesday that his loss to President Obama was a disappointing result that neither he or his top aides had expected, but said he believed his team ran a “superb” campaign with “no drama,” and attributed his rival’s victory to “the gifts” the administration had given to blacks, Hispanics and young voters during Obama’s first term. Obama, Romney argued, had been “very generous” to blacks, Hispanics and young voters. He cited as motivating factors to young voters the administration’s plan for partial forgiveness of college loan interest and the extension of health coverage for students on their parents’ insurance plans well into their 20s. Bobby Jindal: Romney ‘Dividing American Voters’ With ‘Absolutely Wrong’ Comments Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) strongly condemned Mitt Romney Wednesday night for remarks the former Republican nominee made blaming President Obama’s re-election on “big gifts” for minorities and women. “That is absolutely wrong,” Jindal told reporters in Las Vegas at the Republican Governors Association meeting. “Two points on that. One, we have got to stop dividing American voters. We need to go after 100 percent of the votes, not 53 percent — we need to go after every single vote.
