To be quite honest, they both have great futures in this league, I always thought the two of them together in the NBA would have been incredible just like they were in college. But I doubt that will happen anytime soon, I would say Jameer has the brightest future because for one he is playing with a future superstar Dwight Howard and he can already do what Delonte does + he runs an offense better.
I think both have excellent futures, but I will have to say Jameer on this one. I love Delonte, but he will always be a combo guard. Delonte has a beautiful stroke, he is a pure hustler, he rebounds and blocks shots, a good team defender (needs to work on man-to-man defense), and he is one of the funniest personalities in the NBA. He's a scrappy player and a hard worker, however, Nelson has the better future. Nelson can score, like Delonte, but he also is more of a true PG. I mean Delonte can play the PG position, but he's not a natural playmaker. He's a natural shooter/scorer. Nelson, on the other hand, is a guy that can run an offense, set up his teammates, as well as score. Nelson is also a better man-to-man defender, and I was incredibly suprised when he fell to 20th in the draft because of his height. To tell you the truth, he was one of the guys I REALLY wanted at #15 instead of Jefferson. But oh well, everything happens for a reason I guess. Nelson > West, but either way both will be good players in this league.
I love both of these guys as basketball players. I am going to have to go with Jameer Nelson. The kid can flat out score the basketball. He is a great leader and a very mature player. He has good ball control as well. He is a solid passer who doesnt try to get to fancy with the ball. He is also a good rebounder for his size. As of right now, Jameer has the brighter future considering he is in a perfect situation right now. He has one of the best young big men on his team and he has the starting role. Unlike Delonte who has two other quality PG's to split time with.
Jameer Nelson. He is a very quick offensive player, and he is a great shooter too. He will score more ppg, and he is also a decent set up man. He is better then Delonte at scoring and passing, so he basically wins.

If you are comparing PPG from 05-06 then you have nothing to back up your argument. Delonte is the better shooter, and probably the guy of the 2 that I would rather have scoring the basketball. Nelson is/will probably be the better overall player, and certainly the better PG, but Delonte is probably the better scorer as of right now.
i'd take either, and it's hard to tell who will be better. I think Delonte will certainly be the better leader, but Jameer brings that explosiveness. Both are great scorers, and Delonte is improving as a pg. really tough to tell, but both will be very good.
Believe it or not I am going to put the stats to the side on this one. I'll take Delonte West over Jameer Nelson in the future because Delonte has experience playing both the sg and pg position and can do it very well. Delonte also has a much stronger and bigger body than Nelson has and is a much better shooter than Nelson and I believe West is the best shooter on the Celtics.Delonte is very underrated for his defense and if you take every point guard from last season Delonte West averaged more blocks per game as a point guard than any other point guard in the league. West is more of a hustler and a better defensive player and with his body at the point guard position and his shot at the shooting guard position I'll take Delonte West over Jameer Nelson.

The reason he doesnt is because he is height limited. I just dont understnad why Delonte being able to play the 2 guard spot help him out if Jameer is good at the PG spot...And as for the stronger body, you are absolutley wrong. Have you seen the body of Jameer Nelson latley? He is short and stocky and MUCH more muscular then Delonte. Also, I dont understand how you say he is a much better shooter than Nelson. Both are good shooters and Nelson is the better overall scorer. He can get to the basket better and their outside jumpers are both excellent percetage wise. Jameer Nelson is also a good defender. Sure, Delonte is a good shot blocker for his size but Jameer is a better man to man/perimeter defender. Also, Jameer Nelson is a natural born leader. He was the leader of the St. Joes team and guess what, Delonte West was on that team. Also, Jameer Nelson won the best player in college basketball that season as well. You have brung up the fact that Delonte can play both the SG and the PG spot......when in fact, it doesnt matter that much at all. If a player can play the PG spot effectivley, it doesnt matter if he can also play the SG spot. You can just play the PG role and be more of a shooting first PG. It is basically the same thing....

What are you talking about? Delonte shots 38% from 3, and made 333 total threes. Jameer 42% from three, and made 347 threes. Jameer is the better shooter, he is more explosive and quick. He had to play behind Francis last year, and totaled 6 or 7 less minutes then Delonte, but still scored more then Delonte. I would say he is the better passer too.So I dont know what you're talking about here..?
Why do you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have to go by stats CB4???? I would guarantee that right now, Delonte is the better shooter. Not by much, but i can tell you he is. And regardless, we are talking shooters, not just 3-point shooters. Delonte shot nearly 50% from the field, which is phenomanol for a pg.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Aug 11 2006, 10:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Because stats are the only way to prove that Jameer is the better shooter here.</div> :HAHAHA: :HAHAHA: :HAHAHA:
Well, that takes basketball knowledge, not statistical knowledge. Delonte West averaged less ppg than Jameer Nelson but there is no way that Nelson is a better shooter or scorer than Delonte West. I can put money on it that Delonte averages more ppg than West next season because he'll have time at his natural position and won't have to worry about creating plays for his teammates.
Alright deal. How much do you want to wager?Delonte wont get enough minutes to average more ppg than Jameer. Jameer will have the starting role locked up, and will likely get 35+ mpg, well Delonte has to compete with Rondo and Telfair at PG, and Pierce and Allen at SG.
You make no sense. You're telling me Delonte West will have to compete with Rondo and Allen and then you're saying Jameer Nelson won't have to compete with Arroyo?? Delonte West basically has a guaranteed starting job. Wether it's at point or shooting guard, I can guarantee that Delonte will start for the Boston Celtics because he's been around the orginization much longer than Telfair and is better than Allen. Also, don't be surprised if Paul Pierce starts at SF next season.
Wally will start at SF, so that leaves Paul to start at SG. And Carlos Arroyo should get maybe 15 mpg backing up Jameer. It is no real problem. Jameer will still get his 35.On the other hand though, the Celtics have a serious log jam. Look at that. Rondo, Telfair, and Delonte. Delonte isnt a lock for the starting position actually. Alot of Celtic fans like Telfair starting because he is the better playmaker. All those guys will get minutes, and it will be really hard for Delonte to get comfortable and to log alot of minutes.
LOL, Wally won't start at small forward..the lineup is going to look like this:Telfair WestPierceorWestAllen Pierce (if Tony Allen picks up where he left off last season)or possibly thisWestPierceWally
