That's gotta be something misheard... one movie every 2-3 years, not 2-3 movies every year.

They're not talking about the Star Wars franchise, per se. I think they're talking about offshoots, similar to what Marvel is doing. I don't think they could do 2-3 movies a year, but they could easily do one movie every year. Marvel has a new Iron Man coming out, they had Avengers last year, before that it was Captain America, and before that it was Thor. I could see Disney rolling out some of the Star Wars offshoots that have been so popular in the gaming and literary world.

So a bunch of non Episode N movies? I could easily avoid those.

It will all go great until it turns out that Yoda has been banging 16yr old boys.

Disney has supposedly insisted that Darth Vader return for the new films as well...

There's probably a few documentaries out there that explore the history of A New Hope. The fact is that Lucas' original film was kind of a disaster that was saved by an army of editors and remastering of the sound and visuals. Many of Lucas' original ideas weren't possible and didn't make the film, and the ones that we know about were not good. Lucas fought with producers over what would eventually become some of the most important aspects of the film. Episode IV was a reference to Flash Gordon and not intended to set up a series of films--it was only after A New Hope was a success that the sequels became a thing to do. By the time the third film was made Lucas was consumed with making the most profitable films in existence and the story was literally geared towards toy sales, which is why Return of the Jedi is considered the weakest of the original trilogy. The subsequent prequels should never have been made and are an embarrassment. At this point I think a lot of fans of the series pretty much consider 1982 to be the end of it all and everything that has come out since is something else.

I would see a Knight of the Old Republic movie. The Star Wars galaxy is so vast, the possibilities are endless. You wouldn't see a movie about the war between the Jedi and the Sith?

It'll really depend on the movie; I haven't cottoned to any of the EU stuff or the games. I'm a luddite traditionalist, clinging to his laserdiscs of the 1994 THX remaster of the original trilogy and demanding that the teenagers get off my lawn.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
2-3 straight-to-DVD types of movies, I could see. Or for networks, like that Cartoon Network Star Wars thing (which was pretty great actually).

Getting George Lucas out of the equation is a good thing. Disney tends to make pretty quality productions.

When that comes out, Yoda will be elected mayor of Portland.

I think an animated film (and not in the cheesy animation that was in the Clone Wars animations) could be good.

Or if they want to do a live action film do one on what happened between episodes 3 and 4. They could do a whole movie on that.

Ah, they want to go the 'American Pie' rout.

    This will be a disaster.

Disney owned that format until the Olsen twins took it over, and then when they retired as billionairesses the others took their chance. Have you never seen "Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Enchanted Journey" or "A Beauty and the Beast Christmas"? Or the tinker bell chain?

I have a 2 1/2 year old girl, who I've been spending a ton of time with before I leave for the year. Disney Channel or Sprout are constantly on somewhere, whether it's the iPad or TV or computer. She likes to discuss what she's been watching. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse spun off to Minnie's Bow-tique, Goofy's Magic Show, Doc McStuffins, etc.

Small price to pay for quality chats. :dunno:

Marvel also has new Captain American and Thor movies coming out, and they're in development for making an Ant-Man movie IIRC.
