I guess it's racist to invite over a friend who's italian and serve him pasta.

I mean, everything is racist if there's even a tinge of any a priori notion of what a person might be like due to his heritage.

As the OP of this thread, I want to first thank people like Blazer Prophet and others who gave honest opinions.

Now, I feel that a couple have said that I started this thread accusing Republicans of being racist, and I did not. I said "I am interested in the perception that a racist is more likely to be a Republican than a Democrat. Do you find this to be inaccurate?" I did not say that a Republican is likely to be racist, because I don't believe that.

I think we are talking about the margins here, as most people in America are not racist. I do believe that there is de facto racism in America mostly due to laws and standards that were put into place prior to modern times and prior to a more general acceptance and even appreciation of other cultures. I also think the economic past affects the economic present (for everyone). And poor people have worse education, live around more crime, and have fewer chances to succeed. This does not mean that some individuals can't rise up out of their situation, just that as a whole it is much more difficult.

But I will expand upon my original statement and give my belief. I believe there are liberal racists and conservative racists, and everything in between. However, I do think that there is a significantly greater amount of racists on the right then on the left. This may still only be a few percent of the total population on the right, but it is a loud minority and they are a blight conservatism. I don't understand why so many who are not racist on the right feel the need to defend those who are. In the 2008 election, when McCain interrupted a racist woman at a rally and stated unequivocally that her views were wrong, I felt proud of McCain, and if it weren't for the VP choice, I would have considered voting for him. You might be tired of the left bitching and moaning about racism on the right, but then stand up and denounce it, and we will have nothing to say.

Yes, it is clear you don't understand statistics. They never PROVE anything. The suggest with confidence levels. The stats from the 2008 primaries are so many standard deviations out that what I'm saying has a very high confidence level.

You look silly trying to argue that.

Yes, again, by DEFINITION it is racist.

    Two things:

    1) I didn't say that whites voting for whites isn't racist. You keep bringing that up as if I've denied that.

    2) There are no stats showing a drastic split in the white vote. 59% of whites voted for Romney. Yeah, that's pretty close to 90%. Ridiculous.

If they are marrying because of race, then yes, that is racist.

It was about 90% of total black vote in the 2008 primaries, with some states reaching about 95% for Obama over Clinton.

well, 93% sure paints a pretty damning picture, dont you think?

i think that is a bigger problem than PRIMARY voting, but i guess everyone has their own priorities about what is really important in this world

Sure. Just like 95% does too. Both suggest that there is prejudice or preferences based on race. That is racism.

Well who you marry affects a very small group of people. If the president is chosen based on race, that points to a much larger problem, IMO.

who you are married to is much more important to you than who the president is, unless you get a new wife every 4-8 years

Yes. But i don't care who you marry. I do care who you vote to be my president.

re: voting for him because he's black. You're not proving that they voted for him BECAUSE he's black anymore than I can prove people who voted for Romney voted BECAUSE he wasn't black.
yep, black people are racist. you win.

White Republicans hate blacks and exploit hispanics and asians. They hate liberals more than any race.
    Minority Reps hate whites.

White Democrats hate their own race through ingrained feelings of guilt for offenses some of their long-dead predecessors may have committed.
    Minority Dems hate whites.

Which is where statistical analysis comes in. You can't do it so you keep spouting off about the number of people voting for Romney. I gave you the states from the last election, and somehow you want to keep crying about 59% (whites voting for Romney) vs the 90% black split in the democratic primaries. You're so far in the weeds it is comical.

Ah yes, resort to a strawman that I NEVER claimed because your panties are in a wad.

Some whites are racist, some blacks are. I don't know why that gets you so upset and butt hurt.
