I could support a cap on corporate profits, so long as there was a similar cap on corporate losses.

I agree that there should be some protections from corporations exploiting workers. Of course where that line of protection should be is what is up for debate.

    The mediation talks failed....

The company has blamed union wages and pension costs for contributing to its unprofitably. Hostess Chief Executive Gregory Rayburn has also said the company's labor contracts have deterred would-be bidders for the company and its assets.

Here's what each side previously agreed to:

    Teamster Union concessions:

•8 percent immediate pay cuts, which would go down to 5 percent next year
•Hostess will reduce contributions to the health plan by 17 percent
•Hostess will freeze pension contributions until 2015

    Management concessions:

•Gave Teamsters 25 percent share of company stock
•Gave Teamsters two seats on the board
•Gave Teamsters a $100 million claim in bankruptcy
    •Won't permanently freeze pensions contributions
•Former CEO's head on a platter: board ousted Brian Driscoll in March, 2012, after it was revealed his salary was tripled to $2.5 million at the same time he demanded steep pay cuts for workers

    Hold it!

Oboma should step in , like he did for GM and purchase the company. Then he can give most of it to the unions....

socialize it like GM and then sell off part of it to some french company that has no idea how to make a cupcake...give the banks some more money that they in turn can lend to the US gov to pay for the company...man, ya have to keep the unions afloat

when I first caught this post the otherday, I treated it as a joke.

As you may or may not know I do not follow one side or the other, rather try to catch all sides of an issue and make up my own mind..

This AM I was listening to KBOO out of PDX and the topic was on how there is an agenda to make all businesses sign a mandate that if they acted aginst the "peoples interest" the government would be allowed to step in and take over or liquidate that business..

vague wording and cloaked intent aside, these guys were serious...

The Left is funny. They love free speech, but only when it agrees with them. I prefer open and honest debate and dialogue.

nobody agrees with me, man. i'm just commenting on the surprising amount of fiscal and social (though less so) conservatism on this board.

I love a good debate too, but I'm feeling outnumbered.

I would argue there are more on the Left on this board than the Right. We do have a majority of the loudmouths and a-holes, however (and I count at least as one in each column) :ghoti:
