Ben Wallace is awful. No thank you. Look, trades are impossible. Who wants to trade for our crappy players? No one. I'll say it over and over. Delonte/Kenyon is the answer. Delonte can score like the best of them and Kenyon plays with fire on both sides of the court. And they're available for cheap.
I would be fine with any of those guys. I don't think we're bad enough to get into the top 5 picks, but we're too shitty to make the playoffs right now. Something must be done either way.
Exactly. The object is to improve the team. If some team wants to trade us a 'needle mover' for our tepid refuse, you take it any time, any where. As another example, you don't trade LaMarcus (as some are clamoring) unless it legitimately makes the team better, and that's extremely unlikely. Management just has to be diligent and ready to pounce if something presents itself, and patient enough to wait for the draft and trades/cap space/free agency this summer if not.
Wallace is no better defender than Jeffries at this point in his career. He can't score or even rebound anymore. No to Ben Wallace.

But we are a tweener team... and if we aren't careful we might have to ship our pick to Charlotte. I'm just saying we could bring in some guys for the year to help our bench out and maybe make the playoffs. I'm sure New Orleans didn't expect to be winning as quickly as they did with Chris Paul, but having a good point guard can completely change a team. I don't want to hurt that simply because we're trying to get a mid-range lotto pick this year. Bring in a few guys for our bench and let the chips fall where they may. Maybe we make the playoffs, maybe we don't, but we'll still have the cap space this summer to get some real pieces moving forward.
Thus... Delonte/Kenyon. Cut them after the year if we can do better in FA. Or maybe they turn their lives around and stick with the team. Kenyon apparently has a good attitude and Delonte's issue is an illness that can be treated by a compassionate support team.
One thing im worried about is the fact we cant trade our lottery pick if we get it this year without trading for another first for next year. A team has to have a first pick every other year and since ours is protected we cant trade a first without having another first for that year. Am unsure, are you worried, if we get out pick this year, say we are top 12, that we can not trade it? Easily remedied by just trading it after we make the pick. As for the topic, who exactly are we trading for, and who do we have that anybody would want to trade for? We need help on our bench if we want to win games, and we only really have bench pieces to trade away. So it comes to trading expirings for contracts, but those type of guys have such little deals anyways, I just don't see anything we CAN do that makes sense for us. Outside of makybe cutting Elliot and signing someone in his spot, if he's out for the season.
We could make offers for Kmart and maybe another unsigned free agent right now. We have cap room to make 1 year offers, so it won't effect our cap this summer. Kmart would be a good addition because besides Leonard, we have zero bigs worth a shit. Kmart can defend, rebound and score with his back to the basket. The next would be a vet guard that is a good defender and can at least dribble through pressure. There has to be someone out there. He doesn't need to be stellar, just good enough.
I would stop and take a long time deciding. But I know that Minnesota wouldn't (nor should they) do that trade.
I say play with what we have and let the chips fall where they may. Our core is getting the time and shots they need. Not having a.bench full of guys needing minutes will hopefully also develop Freeland and/or Claver. I do not think a small move makes us better than any of the teams in our division either. That leaves us fighting alot of teams for that final spot.
If by a long time you mean a heartbeat then I agree. No way Minny ever trades Love for Aldridge, which is probably the best illustration of their respective abilities.
The "crossroad" was last year's trade deadline, when Wallace and Camby were dumped, and Nate was fired. Paul Allen decided to go on the new road at that point. We are now as fans the part where the organization is chopping down trees and trying to build a new road. Bringing in Kenyon Martin and Delonte West does nothing to help build a new road. I understand that the OP of this thread makes irrational and impatient posts on a frequent basis, but the decision has been made. This team is building on a Batum/Lillard/LMA core, and hopefully can luck out to find a true MVP-level player, which may again change the course. Weird thread.
