OK, I'm hopeful that KSU somehow loses, but I'm looking for #5 GA to win out, then beat Alabama in the SEC Championship, while the Ducks run the table. In that scenario, my prediction comes true. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's not too much of losing one's mind in that line of thinking.
The notion that a Georgia squad that has not looked particularly impressive (struggled v UT & UK, blown out by SC) is going to beat Alabama--even in the Georgia Dome--seems absurd to me.
Heh, where you somehow ascertained that Mark Richt is a "substandarly coach with under acheiving players" is beyond me! No, no more bets at this time. I've already got $50 up with Sly on the Blazers. Oh, and Notre Dame will lose to to USC.
Alabama will need to have injuries on their O-line, Lacy tearing his ACL, and Jesse Williams hurt if Georgia has a shot of beating them. I think Florida has the best shot, and I'm picking them to have another lose against FSU. SEC cannabalism. Oregon vs K-State/ND
The fact is, though, GA is currently ranked #5 in the BCS (which, obviously, takes a number of factors into account). Do you find that equally absurd?
It's a long shot for sure. Yet, still plausible. No intentions to bet, though. Sorry. PS: Where did you hear that Richt was a substandard coach with under achieving players?
So, you're basing the guy's (relatively solid career in arguably the best conference in the country, year-over-year) on one game?? Shameful. PS: Thought this was kind of interesting. OK, it's from an "insider"position, but is still relative within itself: http://www.dawgsports.com/2011/7/14/2274074/mark-richt-georgia-bulldogs-hot-seat-vince-dooley FWIW...here's another piece: http://www.athlonsports.com/college-football/will-mark-richt-coach-georgia-2012
Heh, you didn't. You just needed to be set straight. I mean, someone had to do it. That said, though, the odds of a Ducks vs. Dawgs Natty are probably about 25:1 Would you give me those odds on that little bet?
No, because they're a 1-loss SEC team which was highly ranked to start the year, which means they're going to be ahead of every other team that's not undefeated. Going into the season they were the chic dark-horse pick to reach the national title game due to their soft schedule (no 'Bama or LSU), so it's no surprise that a NCG berth is within reach. However, that's completely unrelated to my post. I don't care where they're ranked; having watched both the Dawgs and the Tide this year, I would be absolutely shocked if they could play 'Bama to within 2 touchdowns. I think this year's SEC championship game will be more like the Auburn-South Carolina beatdown from 2010.
I hear you regarding some of those earlier close game...and certainly that debacle against SC. I do think, though, that Georgia is beginning to put it together, defensively, and will pose a threat in the SEC title game. Richt is a fine coach who usually gets the best out of his players as the seasons progress. It'll be interesting to see how this current team sizes up in the end.
I think we jump KState with our remaining ranked schedule.... Stanford will take out OSU this weekend and move into the top 12, where we'll beat them next weekend and the beavs will win another game getting them back into the top 18 and we'll take them out, then the Pac-12 championship and no way KState can find that kind of strength of schedule left. Further they don't have a championshop game to play..... ND will be taken out by USC by 14+, you can believe that!!!!!!
