Flynn and Thabeet getting PT had nothing to do with my own apathy about last year.

I lost interest last year because I had come to "hate" that particular team. I hated the way they played, I hated some of the personnel, I hated the unprofessional approach some displayed and I was worn out mentally from having to hear about and deal with all of the injuries to key players over the years. It's sad to say, but the high point of the season was Nate getting fired.

The last twenty or thirty games felt a little like watching a person I didn't particularly like, slowly die after being taken off life support -- it didn't make me happy per se, but it was a necessary piece of closure on an era that I was relieved to put in the rear view mirror.

So even if this current team loses fifty games they appear to be playing hard, Lillard is fun to watch, I'm interested to see how Meyers develops and I'm curious if Nic can live up to his contract. The actual wins and losses are mostly irrelevant to me because I understand the goal -- a rebuild, no matter if they want to call it a "retool" or a "revamp." -- even with some familiar faces it feels like a new team ... a new team means new hope and that's worth watching.

all i want is for them to play the rookies, we need a rookie back up pg though

    2nd unit

some undrafted young free agent pg dude
    barton
    claver
    freeland
    leonard

just let them play 15 minutes a night at the same time, even if they get torched, and it will help the team going forward

A 7-game roadtrip sure takes care of that, but I think we'll hit .500 again before the All-Star break.

It helped that it was followed immediately by the "Bad News Bears Win!!" game against Chicago. :ghoti:

I'm having more fun watching this team than I have the past two or three seasons. As long as I see development and improvement - even if it doesn't lead to wins this year - I'll be happy. I want to be in a position to win a boat load of games two seasons from now.

    I was like this too....

Then Comcast happened. Its just so damned difficult to watch them at times. (Gotten better the last couple seasons, but finding a feed that wasnt taken down instantly 3 years ago was difficult.)

I still follow the team as much as I can. But progressively Paul Allen has gotten less and less of my money since Comcast. I went to somewhere between 15-20 games during 21-61 and its gone down ever since. I made it to one game last year (Nick Young went ballistic). Last year was the first Home Opener I missed in over 10 years.

I saw that he played well last night but that's not what he did for us or would've paid attention.

The Blazers do have a chance. That's what is so fun. All 30 teams have a chance right now.

    No. It won't. Horrible idea.

I am not enjoying the season.

We are once again irrelevent in the NBA and talking about being good in a year or two. Last time we missed the playoffs it was for 6 years in a row. I hope we aren't talking another six years before we make the playoffs again.

Watching promising rookies develop can be fun and all, but this is a case of jsut been there done that. I long for the days that the Blazers are part of a conversation about being a playoff team with hopes of playing spoiler or being favored to win a playoff series.

Also not happy that I cringe during close games when the bench starts coming in. Is that bench really the best group of potential "chips." I hope a move or moves are made and some real excitement comes back to the Blazers and the Rose Garden.

Great points. One of the reasons people wanted to break up the Sheed Blazers was because for three years straight, we had been bounced in the first round. So we were patient and built and wound up with another team that got bounced in the first round. It's bullshit and now we're starting over again? The other 14 Western Conference have all won at least one playoff series in the last 10 years. We' the only team that hasn't won. How pathetic is that?

I know it's probably a stretch, but I'd like to see us play .500 ball all year long.

Assuming guys can stay healthy (given history, this can't be assumed), I think our starting lineup is solid. Add a year together under their belts, and assuming at least 4 of the 5 starters return, add a couple of players to make the team deeper, and I could see us making a solid jump next season, and getting back to the playoffs.

I know we're going to beat some good teams, and we're going to lose some games we shouldn't. Losing to Detroit was disappointing, but I really went into this year with little emphasis/expectations on record, and more about wanting to see some things happen that would leave me feeling good about our potential in the future (we have a rookie PG who looks like he'll be a stud, Batum is looking legit, Wes has taken his game up a notch, etc).

Hell I can have some huge daydreams . . . but my big dreams about the Blazers are about as likely as my big dreams of winning the $450 million dollar powerball.

Speaking of which, time to go buy a lottery ticket . . .

Before the season started; didn't almost everyone in this forum believe we would have 27-32 wins a season? If that holds true; we are actually doing much better than expected.

I'm upset that Leonard isn't getting the P&R's like he should be getting. The guy has touch and can finish at the rim.

Problem is the majority of people upgrade or lower their expectations after every game. So if we just won then now we are going to have to win 40 games for the team to live up to someones expectations. Conversely when we lose then people think we won't win 25 games this year.

There's a pre-season predictions thread floating around somewhere. Off-hand I'd say 80-90% of the people put their expectations at somewhere between 28 and 35 wins.

I'm upset that we're not playing Freeland, Babbitt, Claver, Jeffries, and Pavlovic so they'll be ready next Fall after we trade Aldridge.
