It is pretty obviously the POR is afraid of cutting someone, it might actually help us win or something. Just keep telling yourself it isn't about this year, it isn't about this year!
It should be fairly obvious by looking at the bench we had going into the regular season. Merely one part of Olshey's master plan!
I agree with this. I don't think Allen is "afraid" but it seems clear the new marching orders from Vulcan are to not be buying out contracts- especially after getting fleeced by Roy. No, we're going to rebuild, but it will be a slower process. Also, maybe their thinking is that since we're not making the playoffs anyway, we might as well max our chances for the highest possible lottery pick.
That and evaluate the players we currently have under contract. It'll be time to clean house by the end of the season (Nolan, Luke, and Elliot).
I know they have had time in years past but we really aren't even evaluating them right now. They aren't getting time in a game for that. Even if it causes us to lose say 5 games more why wouldn't we rest the starters some this year? I not meaning that I think there is hope for these young guys necessarily but they should still play.
That doesn't mean it'll be the norm the entire season. Gotta satisfy your season ticket holders for at least part of the season. Gotta convince them to sign up for next season as well.
Then it very well may be the norm this season. When do season ticket holders have to renew? About 3/4 through the season isn't it?
It may and it may not. We already pounded our starters into the ground for the 3rd worst win/loss record in the conference (and last in our division). We knew the starters and coaching staff needed time to gel during actual game situations. At some point, our team should play the younger guys more often (even though our bench sucks)!
