Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! A dunk is just another way of getting two points, it shouldn't be a special stat, even though it is one of the most exciting parts of a game, and can swing momentum, at the end of the game it is just two points.
Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! It is actually recorded as a stat. Go to 82games.com. Dwight Howard had the most dunks last season with 185, followed by Shaq and then Shawn Marion.

Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! The dunk should not be considered a stat and would make players play for statistics. At the end of the season, I don't think Dwight Howard went around bragging to the media that he led the league in dunks because it's not a skill and really depends on your point guard and the type of style that your team plays. Shawn Marion dunks the basketball numerous times per game because he has one of the best passers in the league along side him and plays in a fast break offense that allow him to get to the basket and finish.

My old coach couldn't dunk.
Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! Shaq is always near the top of the league in dunks. Even this year he was second despite only playing 50 something games. Shaq gets a dunk pretty much every quarter.

Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! Theres really no purpose IMO. It would be like taking lay ups or mid range jumpers as a stat. Its just another form of two points. There really would be no purpose in it or need for it at that matter.

Re: MAKE THE DUNK A STAT!! i think it is a good stat. A player can get 18 pts and it be a average game a player has 18pts and 16 came off dunks - that a dominant game!i agree kids wouldn't work on thier j - cept the short ones who cant jump -like me
