Speaking of Black Ops 2.... Has anyone played this yet? I heard it's supposed to be the best first person shooter ever made.
My boys love it. I've only played the campaign for about an hour and I liked it. oldguy- there is a parental control option for Black Ops 2 that eliminates some of the blood etc and bad language.
All you need is Black Ops 2 and your son is set for a year. ....Until Modern Warfare 4 comes out next fall.
PS3 is a Blu-Ray player but you can buy a Blu-Ray for $70 now so it's not really that advantageous anymore. The system-exclusive games tend towards more adult fare so it shouldn't really be a concern. PS3 has free online play which is good and bad--you expect better service from Microsoft since you pay for it (about $50-60/year) and it weeds out some of the people who just go online to fuck around and ruin games. If you're not planning on using online features than 4GB is enough storage. Downloading games and such takes up space so you need a decently sized hard drive if you are planning on online use. Again, the campaign modes of Call of Duty and Battlefield and similar games include torture, murder, gore, cursing, etc., so it's up to you if you think your kid can handle that. There are plenty of games out there that are less aggressive. And I can't stress enough that if you go online with games like COD you will be bringing YouTube comments to life.
As I noted above, it's a really good game, but you have to watch a LOT of story line between levels. Black Ops 1 is the same, but not quite as bad. Go Blazers
If you think BO has a lot of storyline, i would wonder what you would think of games like Skyrim or Dragon Age.
How do I get into the controls for Black Ops 2 on the PS3? My son plays and I would love to tone it down a bit.
I couldn't say. I've never played them. If there is even more sitting around, listening to the same thing each time you play through the game, I wouldn't like it at all. Go Blazers
