Man I am counting the days to see this kid on the court again. The things he would be able to do with a facilitator like Lillard is exciting to think about.
Well, he's doing what he needs to do to stay sharp and stay connected to the game, in an effort to be ready for his next job. But I doubt he's in Portland next year. He'll be an UFA.
Think So? He obviously likes it here, and probably appreciates the Blazers keeping him on the roster.
Wouldn't Portland get in trouble for dropping him off of the roster? Or if not, it at least sends the wrong message to other players in the league. Not saying he won't be back. I just doubt it happens. That being said, I hope it does happen. I was expecting a productive year from him - sucks that this happened.
Oh btw, I was in Vegas about 3 months ago and I actually was standing at the very same craps table he was on. He was on crutches, but still tossing chips in. Anyway, I told him I have high hopes of him returning and lighting up the floor in Portland. He told me that he can't wait and is itching to put on his uni soon.

Well looking at this from a different perspective he's been injured most of his career and some college. So how many chances do you give a guy before you move on? I think this is Paul Allen weak spot. We have seen this time and time again and it's not just with injured players. Allen has a real hard on for guards that he can't let go.
I guess a lot of it depends on what E-Will thinks he deserves to get paid. I am totally willing to give him another chance for the right contract. Especially a team option type of deal. It may be a blessing in disguise because his potential if he would have played this would caused someone to overpay and we wouldnt have had a chance
There was a moment last summer that I thought the Blazers might actually have a chance at the playoffs this year. I knew Lillard would be good (maybe not THIS good). I felt like if we could lock up a big man, and had a breakout season by one E-Will, we would have a chance. The guy has 20+ ppg talent, but it's probably not going to happen now. Clearly he's an injury waiting to happen, and he's still very raw since he never got to play through "rookie mistakes".
It is exciting to think about Elliot Williams reaching his potential as a backcourt mate to Lillard. Will he have lost anything due to the injuries, who knows? I don't have a great feeling about his durability, especially snce he will still take quite a while to develop, and I have a gut feeling about future injury setbacks. (gee, I wonder why)

He's obviously had his setbacks with injuries and recoveries due to surgery. He may be an option to consider at the end of the season like Nolan Smith and Luke Babbitt. Weigh your options then and go with the best overall players at the time. With that in mind, Elliot has played a grand total of 149 minutes since being selected 22nd pick in the 2010 draft. That is not impressive. Hell, he's practically taken over Oden's recovery suite next to the Blazers Bench during home games! In the end, he relies far too much on his physical ability with his injury/corrective surgery history. We need players we can count on for more than 149 minutes within 2 seasons of being drafted.
