Well my bedroom TV finally blew up! After all these years..... 32" Sony old school 4X3 TV had for over 15 years finally bit the dust last night. Was watching the Heat vs NYC game and the screen started flashing and spinning and the TV just shut off and actually started smoking! Sad, but very happy cause now I get to get an HDTV upstairs. Very happy with our 55" Samsung in the TV room I got 2 years ago....... Wondering what you guys recommend. Always have gotten Sony or Samsung, but I know my boss/wife won't want me to go overboard on the cost. I want to get around a 40" LCD. If it was my main TV, I'd go with the LED, but this is just the bedroom. I see brands at Costco that I don't recognize, wondering if you guys have experience with these lesser known name brands?

I recommend you don't have a television in your bedroom.

Just the bedroom? Child please! That's a perfect spot for a big TV - we have a 65" LG LCD in our bedroom. Love it!!

FYI.... There are some "Best Buy" off-brands that BB sells (Insignia and one other one that escapes the mind at the moment). Most of those are actually LG TV's, FYI.

Vizio's at Costco are a good budget bedroom TV. We have a 47'' Vizio in our bedroom and I'm happy with it.
Kinda funny, I watch more TV in the bedroom than I do in our family room. Yet the nicer TV (60'' Sony) is downstairs and the cheap Vizio is in the bedroom.

What's wrong with the TV in the bedroom?

If you're implying it affects sexy time...... it doesn't in our household.

Yes, Vizio makes some good TV's in the 40"-50" range. I've had one, and helped budget-conscious friends pick them out on a few occasions. Good bang for the buck.

Vizio is a great value brand. Definitely worth it as a 2nd television.

Agreed on most electronics. Sony is where it's at for most things, for me. I don't have total faith in the current technology of TV's. So I buy quality brands that aren't quite as expensive when it comes to TV's.

Just make sure it has a better surround sound system this time. Mrs. HCP likes light saber battles that sound like she's right in the middle of them.

The problem with a huge TV in the bedroom is it lights up the whole room, making it difficult for anyone else who might want to sleep while you watch TV. A 32 inch with good volume control should allow you to watch a little porn while the Ms peacefully sleeps.

I've had a 720P Visio 50" Plasma for over 5 years now, without a problem. Good picture, so-so sound. Great price.
