No, they're both still on the roster. Just giving them a chance to get some quick PT and conditioning before a long home stand.
From the beginning of the season I expected very little from them. I was looking for Lillard, Meyers and Freeland to all be able to contribute this season, but not Claver or Barton. Hopefully they can stick in the NBA.
Not sure how sending 2 guys to the D league means there is a trade in the works. On a related note, when can Barton or Claver be traded?
Barton has game. I'm not sure why he's going down unless its just short term to get him more experience. Claver sucks though, send him back to Spain.
...no problem, pretty cool that they offer these games LIVE on YouTube! After reviewing the box score it is no wonder why these two were sent down to get some more burn...they need it!
Claver has sure been a dud. Legit NBA talent usually kicks ass in summer league. Guys like Nolan Smith and Luke Babbit kill down there. And Coby Karl has lost his shot in the d-league too. I still would have liked to see him make the team, see him running the 2nd unit over Price/Smith.
Last night the color commentator kept saying he was surprised at Claver's activity on defense and his quick feet. In contrast, he noted that Barton sucked but told fans Barton will improve in his second game tonight (which I'm about to watch, recorded on YouTube). Barton is just all attitude, full of nervous unnecessary motion that impresses novice fans. Claver will be the better player.
Box score says both of em did okay. Will: 41mins, 21pts, 9-17FG, 4rebs, 1ast, 3to. Vic: 34mins, 15pts, 6-14FG, 7rebs, 1blk, 5to.
@TrailBlazersPR: #Blazers recall G Will Barton and F Victor Claver from the team's NBA D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede.
What we learned. Never play Barton at PG unless you like to see him bring it down looking for his own shot. Tell Barton to shoot if you like the swoosh of air balls. Claver always angles his head in disappointment if his team is losing. Babbitt should give Claver body language lessons. Claver is so active on defense that his minutes are limited by ticky-tack fouls. Claver moves like a SF but shoots like a waterboy. Claver is good at posting up and can play PF. Claver is too thin and will have to play SG. Claver is an athlete whose natural sport is beach volleyball but he has no sunglasses.
