On the positive side, I'd have to say:

    West - Warriors
    East - Knicks

On the negative side, I'd have to say:

    West - L*kers
East - Probably Orlando. That's a tough one

Man, the Warriors are on a roll! Let's see if that lasts, though. As expected, Curry and Lee are leading the show (in 37 minutes), but they are getting decent supporting help from Klay Thompson, Carl Landry, Jarrett Jack, and Harrison Barnes. Even Brandon Rush and Andrew Bogut contributed some when they played. (Richard Jefferson appears to be a bust this season, though.) Actually, it appears this team has decent depth!

EAST: Brooklyn: Last season, many thought they lost their #6 pick, and would lose Williams. They managed to keep Williams and get Joe Johnson to boot. They are doing really well this season, so I have to give them major props.

WEST: Memphis: Losing Mayo was a hit on their offense but Zach is seriously picking up the slack. They are the best at opponents ppg, 5th in DIFF, 8th in OPP FG%, 12th in rebounding, and 2nd in steals. Zach is having a monster year with 17.6 PPG, 13 rebounds, 20.2 PER, and 50% FG

    Negatives

EAST: Indiana: They looked so well last season. Hibbert looks horrible offensively and they just look out of sync.

WEST: Lakers: what can you say. Allstar cast and a 9-12 record. Already a coach fired and D'Antoni looks like he's on his way out too.

East: Toronto. I know there's flaws on the roster, but they have a lot of talent, and Casey seemed like a decent coach. They have good players on the roster, but not a good "team" Thought they'd be better than they are for sure.
    West: Lakers. Enough said.

    Positive:
East: Knicks, like others have said. Fatty is motivated and in shape. Good for him.
West: Lakers. I think it's a positive they suck. :)

I'd agree with this but swap out BKLYN for ORL. And I would include UTH along with GS.

They are playing extremely well these days. Beat the Heat in Miami last night. Impressive.

You really expected Orlando to be better than 8-13? That's actually pretty damn good, all things considered. Hell, their best players are Glen Davis and J.J. Redick, and even with that roster full of scrubs, they're only three and half games outside of the playoffs at the moment.

For me, it'd shake down like -

    Positive:

East - Charlotte - Yeah, they're only 7-15, but that's already as many games as they won all of last season.
West - San Antonio - Every year, you have to wonder,... "Is this the year the Spurs fall off? There's no way they can keep this up forever,"... and then Tim Duncan, in his 16th season, seemingly just decides he's going to start dominating the game again.

I was going to say the Knicks and the Mavericks, but I don't think that either has a sustainable team. The Mavericks, in particular, concern me when Dirk gets back. O.J. Mayo has been impressing a lot of people with his ppg, but the reality is that he's still a one-dimensional, selfish chucker. He has little to offer when the offense isn't flowing through him, and he'll actually hurt your team by forcing the issue on offense because he feels he's not getting enough shots. I have similar concerns with the Knicks and Stoudemire, and you can't help but get 'paper tiger' vibes from them as well.

    Negative:

    East - N/A
    West - Lakers
