If tomorrow all the things were gone,I?d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife.I?d thank my lucky stars,to be livin here today.?Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can?t take that away. And I?m proud to be an American, where at least I know I?m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.?Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.From the lakes of Minnesota,to the hills of Tennessee.Across the plains of Texas,From sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A.Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say. That I?m proud to be an American, where at least I know I?m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.?Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.And I?m proud to be and American, where at least I know I?m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.?Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA. WOOT WOOT!

I find it funny how in the song he says he'd proudly stand up NEXT TO YOU, so it would seem like he'd only stand up for his country if there were someone with him. Fake ass American.

I don't get the point of these circle jerks based on the random chance of where you were born. Nationalism generally has an inverse correlation with civil liberties...............

You didn't pick to be born in California, why be proud of them and root for them? And don't give me that you sat down as a little kid and analyzed all of the teams in the NBA, and decided to go with the Warriors because you felt they were a strong team.

Why do you root for the Warriors? You didn't pick to be born in California, why be proud of them and root for them?</div>well first of all I wasn't born in california [IMG] .............But the difference is that rooting for sports games is harmless, with the exception of a brawl here or there. Nationalism can keep people from being skeptical, can start wars, and take lives. Nationalism was the #1 cause of world war 1, world war 2, and many other events. Think about it this way, because I'm a blind Warriors homer I'll predict them to win almost every game (except against the spurs or something) and talk about their players as if they're better than they actually are. When you have hundreds of millions of people's mob mentality doing the same, except with people who have the power to deploy troops, write the budget, etc, you're going to have a much less effective democracy. Not to mention that if you look at the most nationalist nations ever Stalin's Russia, Nazi Germany, and Yuri Irsenovic's North Korea come up. That doesn't mean that this is going to devolve into a fascist regime because it's overall harmless for people to wave flags, but it makes me uneasy since extreme nationalism just gives people another reason for contention.

I'm just saying, the song is way overplayed and it's annoying. And a true American would stand up whether they're next to someone or not.

At EVERY memorial day bring out the Diamond. Just stop and play something else. How about play the National Anthem? People would be like 'we can't have a 4th of july party w/o this song!' It's just too fake. That combined with people playing like 10 times in 2 hours on holidays...
