I said DON'T download Illivid. Although I have, when desperate. It doesn't help.

Install adblock or adblock plus (not made by the same people) and that should cut down on some of the bullshit you see on firstrow. Eventually a little close button will appear on the screen and you can safely close one of those popups begging you to install their trojan horse.

Also, use Chrome or Opera. Both safer than IE or firefox (relatively speaking of course).

    Just making conversation.

I was thinking about getting a Nexus 7 or a Chromebook. I like having a full keyboard, but also like the smallness and ease of the tablet. A tablet doesn't really fill my need to be able to travel with since I have to be able to type longer-ish emails and hate typing on the screen. But I also don't like lugging around a laptop.

I have a touch screen laptop now, too. Mine's made by Lenovo. I love it. I had a tablet before but found it useless for anything other than web browsing. This thing has pretty much replaced the tablet and my desktop in the couple of weeks ive had it.

LOL - I call people out on that shit and then I do it. To be fair/honest, I was going to say something else, hence the "You're", but then changed my comment and didn't make the necessary change to "You're'. If you think that was a reflection of intelligence, I'd suggest you look in the mirror. Nobody would intend to say "You are balla status...."

I write software for mobile devices, so I have pretty much all the top tablets, phones and computers. I find that of the tablets, the nexus 7 is my favorite - it is the size issue, it is much more portable than the iPad I own (but I do not have an iPad mini, which could be much better in this regard).

For $200 (or $299 with 3G) - the Nexus 7 is a great tablet, but if you need to do real writing on one, like most tablets, it is lacking.

The Microsoft Surface with touch-cover seems like a nice idea, but since it does not run full Windows 8 - I would wait for the Surface Pro (sometime in January) or look for a light notebook like that little Asus Q200E. At less than 3 lbs and a rather small size - it is much easier to lug around that traditional laptops (I used to lug a 15'' Dell that was around 6 lbs, yuck).

It is not as convenient as a tablet (it is bigger and heavier) - but for work related stuff, it is a really nice compromise.

I would however wait to see the Surface Pro. It should be around 2 lbs (70% of the weight), run full windows and be roughly the size of an iPad (10.6'' vs. 10.1'').
