ok so what more do you really need? Had you not been able to pass a security check, you would not have recieved your gun..now that you have it do you want to tax it every year? If you feel the need to give more the state, shit , just send them a check, they can use the money. Just dont get the rest of us on board because you have some false concept that this makes some one some where more safe..
I went after the inadequacy and ease of purchasing guns. But yes, gun owners would be effected; but if they are responsible Americans; they would be fine with a revised registration process. Kinda like when the president violates the law about having a budget?
Well shit Maris. Fuck the background checks then. Just have the guns on the shelves of the Safeway and Albertsons then. I mean every citizen shouldn't be infrindged right?!?!
The owner and the shooter were already properly trained, licensed and regulated. The owner is dead so liability is your strawman in this argument. As you admit, the shooter was crazy, so the only preventative measure that makes sense is universal mental health care.
I want to know that as long as you don't have a felony; that it's not the only true requirement of owning a gun.
Ahhhh no strawman. Because if there was a regulation already giving stricter punishments on gun owner's responsibilities; then maybe that owner would have made better precautions of keeping them locked up.
Nonsense. With a ballpoint pen in a crowded mall one could kill a person at the rate of one per second fairly easily. Because it's quiet you could probably continue doing it for quite awhile before people realized what was going on. Gas in a mall or theater would potentially kill hundreds of people. Gun control advocates aren't very bright people, and evidently incapable of detailed analysis of a problem.
as a matter of fact, up through the 1940s and 1950s there were a lot of places that had guns for sale like that.. one other thing to think about, there are pllaces like NY that you are not allowed to own a gun..check out all of the deaths by shooting..
Easy? I count 15 days your family was defenseless against a home invasion. Guess you don't mind risking your family's lives for an empty gesture of paperwork compliance.
While the murder rate by firearm is slightly higher in NY than in the US as a whole, it is odd to see that the percentage of murders by handgun are well below the national average, (68%-57%), and their rates of robberies and assaults with a firearm are well below the national average. The US average for each: 39.25 robberies, 43.77 assaults, per 100,000. NY is at 23.28 and 20.06, respectively.
ok back to the mental health issue...amend to make it harder to own a gun if you are crazy....or place the seller in a position that like a bar he is responsible for a resonable amount of time , I dont know where you would start of stop with this reasoning
People like you who admit illegal drug use, especially hallucinogens, would of course have their guns confiscated. Under current Oregon State laws, anyone who grows or sells marijuana can have their guns confiscated and their right to own one taken away. Anyone applying for a gun license currently signs a federal form stating they do not use any Federally illegal drugs. This applies to legal medical marijuana patients also. Lying on this form is perjury and carries a lengthy jail sentence. So you committed the crime of perjury when you bought your .38, and if the Feds read your posts on this forum they will be carting you off to jail for it. Hugely hypocritical for you to propose more gun laws when you yourself purposely violate them.
If the 1%ers were responsible Americans, they would be fine with a revised tax structure that left them with the same net income as the average American. See how that works?
In NYC, you are literally within a few blocks of a major hospital no matter where you are. If you are shot, you will get to the emergency room and treated faster than in most other places (less populated cities, rural, etc.).
1. Nobody has said they were not locked up. 2. As her son, and a regular user of the guns, he would most likely have a key to the gun safe. 3. No gun safe is burglarproof, and even a fairly secure one can cost thousands of dollars.
Relates to your data about % of murders by handgun in NY. People who survive aren't counted in that stat. Get it?
