My boss is a Mason. Personally, I think it's a good ol' boys club operating under the quasi-guise of doing lots of charitable work.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you. ;)

Pretty much the same difference, in my estimation.

He's been trying to get me to go to one of their meetings for the longest time. They even have a secret handshake.

    ew?

Are Shriners part of the Masons?

    Yes.

Beware if you hear one of them exclaim, "I'm gonna go Shrine one on!"

Remember Mr. Ward in KFalls? He was way up in the Masons. He told me once they had changed a lot in the 1980's and beyond and he was disappointed in the changes. Aside from that I don't know much about them.

Made me think of this -

From what I always understood though, the Masons were just a rotary club. It's just a fraternal organization for community leaders. Conspiracy theories are probably unfounded in the sense that I don't think the purpose of these rotary clubs are to determine social policies, but they do wind up facilitating them just by facilitating the interactions of industry leaders, which could be akin to a captain of industry just socializing with a politician at a party.

I was in DeMolay as a youngster. That's part of the Mason's. I know it is a religious organization that held dances and retreats with the female versions of us (I forget what they were called) They always had an anual retreat at Willamette University where the different chapters would compete in stuff. Then find a girl to sneak off with and have sex. Good times

Weren't the females called Job's Daughters? My sister was in that back in the late 1960's.

Along with the secret handshake they wear a special apron that makes you look chubby. I'd rather have a buffalo hat... it commands respect!
