Does anyone have a suggestion on what type of gun works well for the female?

Also, I may purchase another handgun too. Any suggestions on that? I already have a .38 special snub nose.

Depends on what you want it for.

No matter what you want it for, you should go to a range where you can rent guns and try them out first.

I would take her to a range, get some training and see what she is comfortable with. One of the easiest autos is the 1911 colt 45, if she has the aptitude for it, otherwise any of the small frame 32s or 38s are easy to use revolvers, just make sure it is a double action.

Yeah I want something that she can just point and fire. I was thinking of a .32 or .38 revolver cause she can grab it and start firing.

And don't worry, I am an advocate of proper gun training. We will be going to the range every week to practice.

Take her to a range or shop and let her try them out. You're never going to be able to pick out something she likes better than what she picks out. She may surprise you, and if she gets it b/c she likes it she'll be more likely to do the classes, get some range time, etc...rather than stuffing it in a box in the closet. :dunno:

I know you were being sincere with this post, but after what has been going on recently........ this might be one of the saddest posts in S2 history.

It's just astonishing to me that anybody would "fall in love" with ANY weapon let alone an automatic weapon after what has just happened. I know this isn't the thread to discuss it, but it just doesn't register in my mind. I respect that people want weapons and have the right........ it just makes no sense to me. I had 4 very close friends of mine die in gang related shootings (their fault for being in gangs) during and right after HS and I was in the army so I've seen both sides....... it just so sad people feel they NEED guns.

    ok I understand your position..

personaly I have fallen in love with a few guns, so to speak. You were in the service..did you not come to admire the colt 45..that ugly , loose clanky pos that fires some of the dirtiest powder ever shelled..never jambed..could drop it in the mud and pick it up and shoot all day..we were issued rounds from WW2 lots of bad rounds, but that gun...a work of art

    I was an MP, so we had to qualify with a bunch of weapons....... Colt .45/ 9MM Baretta/ M16/ M203/ M60/ AT4/ 50Cal

My favorite was the M203....... for those of you who don't know it's an M16 with a god damned grenade launcher on the bottom! What a blast. But thats where I left it. I know I would be OK owning one in the civilian world, but I don't like the idea of nutjobs out there being able to get their hands on them.

It's okay FAMS. Some people need to protect themselves from those gang related home invasions. But in reality, it's like insurance. You need it when you don't have it.

Trust me, the guns are locked up and only brought out for Halloween and Swap meets.
