I hope Mathews is out the next few games I would like to see how the team plays more without him. I really want to see Batum at the SG spot that's his best position and he showed it last year. Batum would be one of the top SG in the NBA. Clyde came into the NBA as a SF. I would not mind starting Babbitt at the SF and putting Nic at SG.

If you are looking to play players in their best position then Babbitt's best position is PF. Not that we would play him there for any length of time.

I absolutely loved his game. I don't know what tlong is smoking but shit. The guy was all over the place and his aggressiveness on on the ball d is crazy. Dude is finally learning how to effectively use his length. He made some dumbass passes, but I can overlook that because he's looking for his teammates. His bball IQ has always been good but it shows even more when he is used the way Stotts is using him.

You hope Matthews is out? So we can play more Price, Claver and Pavlovic? (Shudder) I don't need to see more how the team plays with these guys in important roles.

I think Batum's basketball IQ has always been low. He doesn't do the right things at the right time. Every time he actually tries to drive and create out of an iso situation he absolutely sucks ass, he always has and he always will. You guys should be attributing those assists to Stotts.

He's settling for the 3 more than ever right now. It's stupid to watch. 36 of his last 49 FGA have been 3's.

    And he's shooting like shit.

    It must be Nate's fault.

Despite some good numbers that last game, it was a poor showing for Batum.
Those turnovers were some of the worst passes I've seen in at least a decade. Terrible.

He needs to go back to the physical play in the key, like the first few games of the season where he was rebounding and creating off of cuts.
No more camping at the three point line Batum, you're better than that! ( and getting paid appropriately)

13 points/9 rebounds/8 assists/+8 for the game, best of any starter.

Do some of you even watch basketball? I really don't get it.

To those reading this in the future, what is unstated in this thread is that last night, Batum had 7 turnovers.

To those in the present, only 7 players this season have had 7 or more turnovers at least twice.

7 turnovers and 33% shooting. Do you know anything about basketball?

Not sure what your point is. Those 7 players are...

    Melo
    Kobe
    Nic
    Holiday
    Mayo
    Rondo
    Westbrook

That's pretty good company! Granted, several PGs who generally have the ball in their hands - but still...
Also, let's not forget that he's still playing with a bad back. Could explain why he's not going to the hoop as often as we'd like...
Anyway you slice it he's still damn productive even during his "bad" games. If only our All-Star PF could be so productive...

The point is how few players (out of 150 starters and 300 subs) have had 2 awful TO games. And as you observe, all are guards (who are supposed to pass a lot) except Batum and high-usage Carmelo Anthony. As for the back, he must be hurting it more, making all those wrenching TO passes. 443 other players aren't on that list, and most play with pains and aches. His 2 7-TO games were 5 weeks apart, so the back wasn't the same problem way back then. (Carmelo's 2 games were 2 days apart, so injury might account for him, leaving Batum as the only one who can't say it's because he's a guard.)

So Batum is struggling a bit in his expanded role as a facilitator...big deal. It's a new role for him and he's pushing it a bit. I'd rather have him trying to add to his game and making some turnovers than being satisfied with sitting in the corner and waiting for somebody to throw him the ball. He's a talented and smart guy. He'll figure it out and improve.

This. It's a season for development - wins are merely a bonus.
And you know, only 9 players have recorded 5 or more games of 7+ assists, and one of those players is Nic. (Although he's not showing up on this query...which makes me question the validity of B-R.) Other than his two games where he recorded 7 TOs, his TOs have been fairly modest for someone trying to initiate easy baskets for his teammates.

Couple things going on with your analysis; one, B-R pages results, and sorts within pages. So you won't find Nico in the first page of results (since you sorted by points scored).

Also, another of the nine players is Damian. :ghoti:

Here's the same analysis, with guards and guard-forwards filtered out: http://bkref.com/tiny/wUmVT

Nice to se LMA in there twice.

I keep hearing on how Nate used Nic in such a terrible manner, yet Nic shot better under Nate, shot fewer 3s with a better %, shot less<50% of his attempts from 3 as opposed to over 40% this year.

How is it that 'all Nate did was have Nic stand in the corner and shoot 3s' when the data shows that Nic is basically a 3-pt chucker this year if he isn't passing the ball.

You do realize Nate only coached him roughly half the year last year.

You do realize that Nate coached Nic for the first 3.5 years of his career, right?
