Who is going to give Hickson a max deal?? He's a very good role player on a team that probably won't make the playoffs.

You're a PER guy. Hickson is #19 in the league, Aldridge #41, and Batum #71. Are 70 players worth $10M per year?

Still prefer Hickson to Aldridge. Guy just plays with more hustle, energy and most importantly, Heart.
Hickson, at only 24, fits with the rebuild with Lillard time frame also.

I'd be looking to shop Aldridge for a decent player + picks.

Apparently so. Are there 7 guys in the league who can play 38 minutes a night at a 17 PER level?

Andray Blatche is 9th in PER. Is he worth a max contract?

Tyreke Evans has a better PER than Lillard. Better make that trade while Evans is still on his rookie contract.

You mind if I cite these posts next time you use PER?

I factor minutes played into PER and impact on the game, as well as USG rate. Always have. Weren't you the one who didn't even know that minutes played has literally nothing to do with the value of PER? That was funny.

Batum is 10th in the NBA for SFs in PER (Faried for some reason is listed as a SF, too), and is just below Josh Smith, who I see a lot of people here wanting to throw big money at next summer.

For SFs playing over 30 mpg, Batum is 8th. Of the 7 above him, only Thaddeus Young makes less money than Batum ($7.4m/per).

Seems to me that Nic is being paid as he should be paid, at least according to others at his position compared to his production.

About 64 play fewer minutes than Batum, but get a higher PER.

I knew it. I was trying to hook you into showing the formula, but you wouldn't, so I did.

Aldridge gets guarded by centers because he is our All Star big man.

Why are you choosing between them? They play great together. Geesh.

Because playing at a 19 PER level for 35 minutes helps a team more than playing it for only 20 minutes's, unless the guy getting the other 15 (18 in LMA's case) is also producting at a level of 19 or greater. Getting 19 PER out of any position for 38 mpg is well above the norm. Same with Batum at 17 PER for the time he's on the court.

Now I understand, you devil. You pulled a bait and switch, but the jlprk kept his keen eagle eye on the magician's hand. Next time, wait 2 hours until the jlprk has his game-time drink.

Ah, now you admit that PERs should be ranked by minutes played. This is like watching a Zen Buddhist dog chase its tail.

I've always said that minutes played matter for any player, especially those when evauating PER. It isn't that difficult to understand, is it? MPG doesn't enter the calculation, but it should be considered when assessing the value of that PER number and it's impact on the team.

Fortunately for Portland, they have two bigs in Hickson and LMA who are both playing starter minutes and putting up a very good PER in LMA's case, and near All-Star level in Hickson's case.

The reason was that you concocted a list to exclude Hickson, since he plays 28.9 mpg. Hickson never has foul problems, so the coach limits his minutes only to develop Leonard. Hickson's PER might even increase, not decrease, with more minutes.
