I was speaking to how their govt. intimidates the population, restricts liberties, imposes slave labor, etc. I am not sure that pointing at them and saying, "what they're doing is awesome!" is very compelling.
your reading comprehension sucks... hopefully thats a simple enough sentence for you not to be confused again STOMP
I watch the whole press conference, the part that is being referenced is only a small portion of what he believes the mind set of the youth today are force fed, he was not placing the entire blame on games and movies
THIS! Obesity is a HUGE (no pun intended) healthcare issue in our country. I costs us all in higher healthcare and insurance costs. Many of the medical issues facing our aging population are 100% caused by lifestyle choices. But, in today's politically correct society, you're considered an insensitive jerk if you even mention that someone needs to lose a few pounds - for their own good. And, it just keeps getting worse. Our current generation of youth will be the most overweight in history. Hundreds of thousands of people die in this country every year due to weight related, preventable illnesses (heart disease - 600,000, diabetes - 75,000, etc.). Yet, 20 people get shot (yes, it is a horrible, horrible tragedy for the victims and their families, I don't mean to imply it isn't - especially given the age of the victims) and it sparks a national debate. About 9,000 people are killed by guns in this country every year. Of course, that's too many and many could be prevented, but with nearly three quarters of a million dying from obesity related diseases, I'd like to see our government spend some time and resources working on that issue, for the benefit of us all. And, it's not just the premature deaths caused by obesity, it also impacts the quality of life and the cost of medical care. My girlfriend is a nurse, she works in med/surg and you wouldn't believe how many people in their 40s are having hip and knee replacement surgery because their bodies cannot support their weight. The cost of caring for these patients is born by us all in terms of higher health care costs and higher insurance rates. Many of these people are on permanent disability by the time they reach 45, basically because they are too fat to work. I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. If there is one place our educational system has truly failed us, it's health and physical fitness. Those classes are a joke - usually taught by some coach who is only teaching those classes so he can coach the basketball or football team. A healthy lifestyle is a choice, but many people don't even know how to eat right. Why aren't we teaching this to our kids in school? This will have a bigger impact on the quality of their lives than any other class they take in elementary school or middle school. And, it's not rocket science. Sorry for the tangential rant, but until we start a serious dialogue about the obesity epidemic afflicting this country, I don't even want to hear about the gun control debate. Want to save lives? Ban fast food. BNM
So move the fuck to China. It'll be a lot less violent than trying to disarm Real Americans, and I think your mindset would fit right in over there.
why pride yourself on being an idiot? Anyone can read my full post and see that you're being completely disengenuous btw... yet another assualt weapon shooting spree happened over the holidays where a gunman was picking off emergency responders after he let his house on fire. Tragedies like this are happeing so often it's becoming the norm. http://www.oregonlive.com/today/index.ssf/2012/12/man_who_shot_firefighters_left.html STOMP
John Wayne Gacy killed 30+ young boys. He just didn't do it in a half an hour's worth of time (or less). The list of serial killers is frighteningly long. Most aren't americans. Some of these guys killed hundreds. Almost all of the crimes were committed without a gun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_serial_killers_by_number_of_victims
And this is a fantastic read: http://reason.com/archives/2012/12/22/gun-restrictions-have-always-bred-defian
The real issue is those walking around and living without a conscience. Who can't see past the little box they live in. There are far too many of those in society. It's parenting now a days. We are doing a lousy job of it. And are responsible for what the current generation of young adolescense is becoming. Also life without God is showing it's head in this instance. The further this society grows away from god. The more weirder it becomes. The weaker it becomes. And in the end, is having a detrimental impact on this nation.
...had nothing to do with "assault weapons" and everything to do with mental illness and the MEDICATIONS that the lunatic was on!
A disturbed person wanting to hurt others is a problem regardless of what weapon they utilize. Easy access to rapid fire, large clip assault weapons compounds the problem. Those weapons aren't for personal or home defense, they're for offense. Bury your head all you want, but it's established that this is a serious problem... what we're going to do about it is the question STOMP
...exactly, the weapon doesn't matter. My head is not buried, the largest common denominator is SSRI style medications and "mental health" issues. Oh, and by the way, the Sandy Hook wacko didn't use the infamous AR-15 [the investigation shows that he only used handguns] --> http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/50208495#50208495
