...but don't get your hopes up just yet. Nothing has changed. The UFC is optimistic that their political problems breaking into the State of New York and getting MMA regulated will be settled this year--so much so that they've tentatively booked MSG for their 20th anniversary show on or about November 9th, 2013. The UFC and other MMA organizations have been stymied thus far in their attempts to get MMA regulated by the New York State Athletic Commission, largely due to the efforts of Unite Here and the Culinary Union in Nevada, stemming from a longstanding feud between the union and the Fertitta's, owners of the UFC and the largest non-union casino chain in Nevada (Station Casinos Inc.).
The UFC hopes to have (Ithica) New York native Jon Jones defend his title at this event, if it takes place. It would also make sense for (Baldwin) New York's Chris Weidman to challenge Anderson Silva at this event.
