Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have a better overall record, yet have to travel to Washington to play the Robert Griffin III-led Redskins. IIRC, this same type of scenario took place a couple of years ago when the Saints had the better record, yet had to travel to Seattle, then ended up losing to the Seahawks in a rather significant upset. At any rate..... GO SEAHAWKS!!
One team won their division (Redskins), the other is a wild card. Division winners get home-field advantage over wild card teams, at least in the first round.
Gooooooo hawks... Wow, as a raider fan i never thought i would say that but watching the seahawks this year has been very entertaining.
Totally agree. Completely. Though, I do understand why they do it. Not every year (and not this year, certainly), but many years, a team that is 10-6 and wins their division is better than than a team that is 11-5 and 2nd in their division. I think the belief is that if you're 11-5 and 2nd, your division is weak, and a team that was 10-6 and won was in a deeper division, and is more deserving of HFA. BS IMO. That being said.... as ABM points out, the Seahawks have gotten the benefit of the rule before, so it's only the law of averages that they are now on the other side.
I heard the 'Hawks were giving 2.5 points. That seems about right. I think the keys to the game will be how the Skins can run against the Seahawks front seven and how the Redskins LBs and Ss can contain Wilson when he runs while also not giving up the passes in the flat when he leaves the pocket. I know home field is a big deal for the Seahawks, but FedEx sure ain't RFK for the Redskins. The a-hole fairweather Skins fans that exist now in Raljon are a shadow of the gappy-toothed rednecks that used to inhabit E. Capitol Street. The home field advantage won't be a big deal for my Redskins. That being said, I'll be in my seats yelling my lungs out watching the game.
Title of this thread reminds me of one of the funniest Twitter accounts going, @DadBoner (Karl Welzein). Check him out.
Sunday cant come soon enough! Our DB's will shut down the average Redskin WR's which will allow our LB's to focus on stuffing the running game of both Morris and RGIII. I think Seahawks win by 13. GO SEAHAWKS!!
Grew up in Portland hating the Cowboys, so I picked their biggest rival. Moved to DC after undergrad. Now have season tickets to the Skins. Married a Broncos fan.
You have it backward. The Redskins use the run to set up the pass. If the Skins can't run, then you'll likely win. If they can, it will be close. For the record, I think the Seahawks are a better team this year. This year was supposed to be a rebuilding one for us.
By the way, how can Portlanders be Seahawk fans? I f'ing hate any Seattle team, just like people in Milwaukee and Baltimore rightfully hate anything from Chicago or DC.
People in Milwaukee and Baltimore have their own teams to grow up with and root for. Here in Portland most people are either Seahawk or 49er fans because they are closest to us and are on TV the most... so kids grow up rooting for teams they have the easiest access to and hear the most about. That's why I grew up a Seahawks fan, and because my dad is a fan too, so I watched games with him.
I became a Raider fan when they had Bo Jackson. It's tough to be a fan lately. In fact, almost hard to watch.
I still think he would have been the best running back to ever play the game. I remembered I loved watching him actually run towards the DB or CB and hit them hard. The best was when he ran over Ronny Lot. I was like "HOLY SHIT!"
