I was all sincere because I had just waken up. Now I think that the posters in the bottom half of the thread should kick the asses of those in the top half.
Pardon me, but why should I care what Greg Oden does? He is not my personal friend, not my colleague, not a Blazer, not my Congressional representative, not breaking laws. So far as I can tell he is a private citizen doing legal activities. As such, it's not my business and frankly I'm just not all that interested.
he blamed Portland on his way out, and found his solace in the bottom of a bottle and in the pants of loose women. so yeah, he's being a dipshit.
I'm sorry, were we drafting a center or a Pope? Jesus, you pretend to be a liberal, but you sound like a fucking Evangelical.
A "dipshit?" You mean "typical male between the ages of 18 and 25?" Maybe some of you guys were the epitome of maturity and responsibility in your early twenties, but whether or not you think Greg Oden handled his off-court business appropriately or not, doesn't change the one overriding truth, his body utterly and completely betrayed him. So maybe he got depressed and turned to booze and women trying to make himself feel better, maybe the booze didn't help his rehab, but it certainly didn't cause his knees to completely disintegrate. I feel pretty badly for Greg, he looks like the kind of guy where basketball picked him instead of the other way around and he never looked all that comfortable with the "franchise savior" tag that people wanted to pin on him even when he was marginally healthy. For his sake, I hope he's able to get healthy and finds some measure of happiness and doesn't end up a broken drunk -- whether or not he returns to basketball in some capacity or just ends up coaching gym in a Terre Haute highschool. Greg didn't live up to his draft status and because he and Roy couldn't stay healthy, the Blazers missed a chance to contend for some NBA titles. You know what? Big fucking deal; it's just basketball.
Does any team have as many "what ifs" as the Blazers?? Sabonis, Bowie, Oden, Jordan, Barkley, Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Durant....
Repped. Some of you need to worry about your own lives a little more instead of scouring the internetz looking for uncreative ways to insult Oden.
Try the Warriors. They gave up Robert Parrish and the draft pick that became Kevin McHale for Joe Barry Carroll. Picked Joe Smith over Kevin Garnett. Picked Todd Fuller over Kobe Bryant. Picked someone I can't remember over Zach Randolph. Having to decide between Tim Hardaway and Latrell Sprewell, they picked Sprewell. Hardaway became an All Star again and Sprewell attacked the coach. Traded Chris Webber for Tom Gugliotta. Traded Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens. Traded the rights to Vince Carter for Antawn Jamison. And the beat goes on. They look happy now but their history is dreadful. Guess the straight GMs just couldn't do the job (sorry, had to put that in).
