They certainly have one thing in common.

Why is this even a story?

Ellis went straight from high school to the pro's, has been a guy who puts up 20 points a night since his early twenties, has a 48 point game to his name, and has been making $11 million a year since 2008.

If I'm paying $11 mill to a guy who's leading my team in scoring and taking 18 shots a game, I don't want him comparing himself to Jared Bayless; I want him to have the mindset that he's on the same level as Wade, whether or not that's the reality.

The same number of letters in their name?

He has an offensive rating of 99, about six points below league average

Yeah he's terrible and has never been all-star level.

Never liked Monta. Just another scorer. He needs to be the next Kevin Martin and get traded to a team where he'll be a 6th man. There are too many 6th-men masquerading as starters.

He had some amazing games against Roy when he was a Warrior, always one of Brandon's toughest matchups.

Skills-wise, I think Ellis can make an argument. Passion/Intelligence/Effort-wise, there is no comparison. No, I don't think Ellis will ever figure this out.

Yeah, because we all know a guy with a career PER = 16.9, a career WS/48 = .073, zero all-star appearances and zero rings is exactly the same as a guy with a career PER = 25.6 (2nd highest among active players, 6th highest all-time), a career WS/48 = .194, 9 all-star appearances (including one all-star MVP) and two rings (including one finals MVP).

Look, a pile of shit can compare itself to Michelangelo's David, but even if it's the most magnificent pile of shit ever, it still looks like shit and still smells like shit. It still is a pile of shit and will never be considered an artistic masterpiece for the ages. Dwyane is a future first ballot Hall of Famer. The only way Monta Ellis ever gets into the NBA Hall of Fame is if he buys an admission ticket.
